Disappointing
Quaint small hotel. Good overall design. Safe area.
I think when this hotel was first constructed, it must have been spectacular. But honestly, it’s just a bit tired and rundown now. The public spaces are quite charming. The first room we were assigned was quite musty and they kindly changed our room. I think they knew it was a problem because they had an air purifier in this one. The filter was filthy so I cleaned it myself. After showering, I decided I did not feel comfortable staying in that room. Unfortunately, the new one had bugs. We left after only one night.

I cannot recommend Joli Guesthouse enough. From the moment their taxi driver picked us up from the airport, the service of the staff was beyond excellent. My husband and I were visiting his son who lives in Maputo so we had him over every day and the staff were so accommodating to all three of us. The room was beautiful (king suite) and they cleaned and changed the sheets every morning while we were at breakfast. There was a continental breakfast but you could order something else from the breakfast menu at no additional charge. The pool and outdoor area was clean and beautiful. The staff would set out tea and homemade cakes or cookies in the evenings and there was a small mini fridge of drinks and snacks in the common area. We would absolutely stay again.
It would have been nice to have a mini fridge and espresso machine in our room to keep drinks cool and have access to tea and coffee at our leisure.

It is also located in a lovely area that is close to restaurants and a promenade, and also felt very safe. The room is very comfortable and serviced daily, and we also enjoyed the breakfast options they had. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Would definitely stay there again!

location is perfect, in the area where all the embassies are, therefore quiet and very safe, there are quite a few restaurants nearby that we could reach by walking.
we had the suite on 2nd floor, there is a double bed and a sofa bed, balcony with chairs and a kitchen with all tools, nicely decorated, shower is working well
Breakfast is nice, nothing special but they are slow in service
pool is small with 2 sunbeds and chairs, it is under the sun only in the morning
there is a front garden, the property is guarded as anywhere in Maputo, and reception ladies were very nice and available for any question
if you wish to go to town centre, it is approx 10min by taxi or almost 1h by walk, but the area is definetely the best in Maputo
there were no mosquito nets and it was very strange to me, and in the survey they asked me to fill, one question was about the nets, they were available in any other location we visited in Mozambique
we were on 2nd floor and there is no lift, it was not a problem for us and there is a guy helping to bring luggage upstairs, but they should inform about it as not everybody can afford all the steps

Super friendly staff and the hotel itself was an ideal boutique style hotel tucked away in a upmarket residential area. We used the complementarey bikes which was very nice as there wa lots to see close to the hotel. Breakfast was excellent.

Spacious, confy, someone was always available, quiet
Maybe staff could leave the costumers towel, if it’s not on the floor (like indicated) if no one asked for a change, leave it- be ecofriendly ? i came back from a long day, very late to look for staff and had no towel.
Also consider being faster on the checkout, 15 minutes is too long.
