Everything was good. Nice common space, fully equipped kitchen, some basic breakfast. Bathrooms were clean. Room was basic, but very clean and has a great ventilation. Location is just perfect. It was a nice stay, we even had prolonged it by 2 days.
Breakfast could be a little better, now it's just toast, 1 egg per person, jam, instant noodles and instant coffee - but really can't complain for that price. We were buying something extra at the market each day and getting it's warmed up in the morning :)

I recommend staying at the hostel if you want to try special kinds of street food, since it is located next to the night market. On sunday morning takes another market place, also next to the hostel, where you can buy animals and clothes. I found the atmosphere welcoming and calm.
At the evenings in the weekend the hostel was loud due to it's central location next to the night market.

Really good shower, good and comfortable beds. Breakfast was good enough - Toast, eggs (1 per person) noodles. Staff were friendly. However...
We chose to stay in a hostel as we were hoping to get chatting to other guests and find out some information and ideas on our trip in borneo. This was not that place. This is fine and not the hostels fault of course. But also the staff gave us wrong information on how to get to kinabalu national park. And different staff members giving different information. We had read online we could get a minivan or shared taxi from a stop just round the corner from the hostel but when we asked the staff she said there were no shared taxi or minivan and had to go to the main bus station (8km away) and take a bus. We thought we would check out the shared taxi anyway and got to the area and within 5 minutes we were on our way to the national park, arriving within good time to have a full day at the park. So although its nothing to do with the accommodation itself I'm just glad we didn't listen to the information given to us there and went our own way. Also our room didn't have a window which we are getting used to, but the listing didn't specify no window which some of the other places do. Apart from that, good hostel.

the staff is amazing, v helpful. I loved the location literally walking distance to the jetty for day trips to the islands. clean beds, comfortable. very basic but clean bathrooms. air con and internet working perfectly well. nice table in the mixed dorm and a chair which is always very helpful to have.

Overall excellent value for money in terms location, facilities, room and breakfast. Staff is incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. As a bonus it is also beautiful, even with a rainforest view in the lounges.

Good rooms and great common room. Good hostel to operate from in KK. Nice and helpful staff.
Can get quite noisy on the evening, where there is nightmarket on the street.
