I don’t usually write reviews, but this one is truly well deserved.
Our stay at Cabañas Hotel Tulum was exceptional from start to finish. The level of personal service was unlike anywhere we’ve stayed — the staff called us by our first names, and it genuinely felt like we were treated as family, not guests.
Guillermo, Antonio, and Aldo were the ultimate “yes” guys — always going above and beyond, never saying no, and always with a warm smile. They made everything effortless and special.
The rooms were immaculate, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. At times, it honestly felt like we were the only guests on the property, which made the experience even more peaceful and intimate.
The front desk team was also incredibly helpful, gracious, and attentive — always ready to assist with anything we needed.
This hotel made us feel cared for in a way that’s rare. We will definitely be back, and we’re so grateful to the entire team for such a memorable stay.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, including the beach. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with some modern conveniences that can sometimes be hard to find at the beach hotels in Tulum. The location was great, too. It was peaceful and yet within walking distance to great places eat and things to do if you wanted to venture out. There were two restaurants for the hotel and they were both amazing- food & service were exceptional. And very attentive when it came to dietary needs and preferences. The hotel staff went above and beyond on multiple occasions to make our stay an excellent one, too. They were great at helping us find transportation and things to do, sometimes last minute given tours can cancel on you without much notice. Everyone was so nice, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! This was my second time to Tulum and when I go back next year it’s very likely I will book my stay here again!

The location to the beach and restaurants. Having access to Ziggy’s & Fresco’s for a breakfast of our choosing. The view from our room, with the rooftop patio. And finally, the amazing spa being attached to the Cabana’s.
The awful sewage odor (we were told was decomposing seaweed) that we smelled literally every time we walked through the lobby/check-in area, which is necessary to get to your car, the street, spa, and restaurants.

This is the perfect boutique hotel in the perfect location. The staff are so incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast-- and all the food-- is INCREDIBLE-- healthy and fresh and delicious. The room was very comfortable and I had a room with a rooftop and water view with a beautiful balcony that I sat on all the time!! The location is also perfect and easily walkable to all the restaurants and boutiques of Tulum. I was there in August so there is a lot of seaweed and I could not swim, but it was still a very spiritual and meaningful experience. I also highly recommend the spa and massages at the hotel- they are excellent. I would definitely come back.

Ground floor room with soaking pool and direct walk of 100' to the beach. Staff was attentive and provided good insight and information. Two restaurants on the property and both with a good bar and one with live music and a great view of the beach.

I loved all the rooms facing the beach.
Ours had stairs that had private tub and bed and 2 chairs. The whole proof was beautiful with wonderful plants flowers etc. the service was amazing knew us by first name. They celebrated my birthday even though I did not tell them nor did my husband. So nice. Felt good.
The beach is beautiful but it had a lot of seaweed. There was no one ever in the water it went way out the seaweed. It really would have been nice to know. The pool was nice. We had to go to playla del Carmen to get into the ocean.
Also they had a lot of atms down the street but none of them had money in them so when they sat bring money do it. We had to take a taxi which was super expensive 20 minutes downtown and they would only give you 120 dollars worth of pesos a day. If you do use a taxi I suggest that u walk down the street and get your own. The ones they got us were super expensive $120 to go 20 minutes to the bank round trip.
Everything is expensive now. We have been going to Mexico all over for 30 years. And if they tell you about the atms they should tell you about the seaweed which I know it happens but you could not even get passed it to clearer water it was that bad.

Staff was excellent and all our requests or questions were answered promptly.
We came during low season, so the hotel was almost empty, and mostly quiet. With that however, the beach had the worst seaweed...

Excellent location and a gorgeous hotel. The staff were always helpful and welcoming. Also, having nice pool is a great when there is a seaweed problem on the beach is persistent . The food and drinks at Frescos are great as well. I would stay here again.

A Magical Family Escape at Cabañas Tulum
We had an unforgettable stay at Hotel Cabañas Tulum. The beach alone is reason enough to visit—absolutely pristine, with soft, talcum-like sand and a stunningly blue sea that never felt crowded. It was pure paradise.
The staff were exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. They made us feel special every day and were especially sweet and accommodating with my daughter, going out of their way to make her feel seen and spoiled in the best way.
Both on-site restaurants offered excellent menus with fresh, flavorful, and healthy options. Breakfasts were a standout—generous portions of açai bowls, smoothies, eggs in every style, pancakes, French toast, and fresh fruit. Our daughter was in heaven! The beachside restaurant also had lovely evening entertainment that added to the relaxed, festive atmosphere.
The spa was an absolute dream. Not only was it deeply relaxing, but it gave me a chance to truly connect with my teenage girls—an experience we’ll all treasure.
The location is undeniably beautiful and peaceful, but it’s worth noting that Tulum in general is quite expensive. Taxis cost a lot and the area isn’t really set up for walking, so getting around can be a challenge if you want to explore beyond the hotel.
Overall, though, Cabañas Tulum is a little slice of heaven and we left with full hearts and unforgettable memories. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a special, soulful getaway.
The only downside is that Tulum in general is very expensive—meals out, activities, and taxis really add up. Still, the beauty and vibe made it a trip to remember!

this is a gorgeous hotel and having a larger pool is a huge bonus when there is a seaweed problem on the beach. The food at Frescos is amazing and the wait staff, Axil in particular, is so lovely.
You can hear some music from the clubs near by at night. the hotel should work out an agreement with the night clubs with the booming bases that they need to turn down the music at 12 am. it can go all night.

Wonderful stay, staff were welcoming, professional, and accommodating. The room was beautiful and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. AC worked impeccably. Refreshing to not have staff ask for tip for service, as although we did end up tipping at the end it’s a much better experience not being asked for it as in most other places in Tulum. Food was delicious, and coffee, including espresso was available! There is a small (well equipped gym) and the sun beds area is quiet and relaxing.
