Wonderful
We were so nervous after reading the reviews on Booking.com, but it was a huge positive surprise. Staff went above and beyond. Our villa was ultra comfortable and close to the beach. Food is good but kind of overpriced.
Restaurant staff does not speak English well.

Overall vibe and food was legit. Must visit the museum even though it is a 45 min ride, its well worth it!!!!!!
Unfortunately room 14 floods really bad during thunderstorms, but 1/4 of the bed stayed dried and was able to sleep## Very expensive and have to pay your tab every time you stop by anywhere and get food or drink, rather than a charge account or tally system to reconcile @ once

Place just amazing and unique … It’s good for a short stay in Tulum , just to change atmosphere. Helpful stuff. Food and drinks are reasonably priced for the hotel .

The architect and aesthetic is incredible, you feel like you’re in another world. Beyond gorgeous the only downside is at night in your room it gets very dark. They only give you candles and a bit of lighting. I would recommended them to add more light then candles bc god forbid someone misplaces a candle and burns the place since it’s made of all wood and straw.
The food and drinks are overpriced. My husband and I only end up eating one night at the hotel because the food was a bit dry. Their tacos are delicious and the food at the beach club was better than the restaurant

Very Poor
Well, the building looks exquisite and architecturally unique, however the services and facilities are terrible. The place is run by bunch of kids. We missed our flight because until 7:00 there was NO CONCIERGE,.. no one to take our luggages! I strongly recommend Not to get this place,.. if you care about comfort or luxury. There is No Showers! No electricity that is really stressful especially if you want to pack and leave early morning!!!! Definitely not recommended

Disappointing
The setting, architecture, and design the staff was friendly and helpful
Was disappointed in the value compared to the price of staying at azulik. The nests are way over priced and don’t include anything you have to pay extra for dinner which I get is an experience but I don’t think it’s worth as much as the price listed. Also we had some very noisy annoying neighbors on top of us which came back and partied so didn’t get much sleep the last night so didn’t get the privacy of staying in a luxurious villa.

Very Poor
The beach club was nice, and some of the food there was good.
This was our first trip to Mexico, and unfortunately our first experience with Azulik was very disappointing. We chose this hotel based on Instagram photos and reviews, but the reality was very different. The room is advertised as a 75 sqm villa, but it is not a villa — just a small studio. We arrived at night with very poor lighting, and only in the morning realized how misleading the description was. The bathroom was uncomfortable: there was no proper shower, a constant unpleasant smell from the toilet, and towels smelled damp. The bathtub area shown in photos was dirty, with mold and hair, and impossible to use. Sunbeds were also damp and smelled bad. There is no privacy at all — no curtains or blinds, only bamboo sticks, so you can be seen from outside. This is completely unacceptable. The hotel claims to be eco-luxury, but it feels cheap and poorly designed. The wooden walkways are uncomfortable and unsafe; I twisted my ankle walking on them. We had constant noise from neighbors above due to very thin wooden floors. Cleaning was poor, and bed linen was dirty. Restaurants were disappointing (cold food, very limited menus), and staff openly pressured for tips. The concierge often did not respond or help. Additionally, both my friend and I were bitten by bedbugs. We are covered in itchy bites and still experiencing discomfort. We are also very worried that we may have brought bedbugs home with us. There is no doubt that there were bedbugs in the mattress, which is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel positioning itself as luxury. Summary Misleading room description, lack of privacy, serious cleanliness issues (including bedbugs), constant noise, unsafe walkways, and poor service. I would not return and do not recommend this hotel.

The hotel is a truly beautiful and original concept. It’s located in the middle of the jungle, and the rooms are tree-house style. If you book the right category, you get a private jacuzzi on your own terrace with an incredible beach view. The architecture, nature, and the restaurants are stunning — probably one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever stayed in. However, guests should be aware of several major issues. Pros One-of-a-kind design and immersive jungle experience Amazing private terrace Jacuzzi with a beach view Beautiful restaurants and unique atmosphere A perfect place for nature lovers and people who enjoy adventure Cons The walk from the lobby to the room takes 10–12 minutes. After rain it gets extremely slippery, not covered, and you can get fully wet. No umbrellas provided. Water in the room comes from a cenote — not good for brushing teeth or washing your hair. Occasional animals may leave “surprises” on the terrace — part of being in the jungle. During storms, staying in the cabin can feel scary (some may enjoy it, some not). No phones in the room and poor Wi-Fi, making communication difficult when you need help
Service This was the biggest disappointment. We reported a smelly animal mess on our terrace and ordered room-service breakfast. After more than an hour, breakfast arrived, and it was placed right next to the mess. The cleaning staff arrived late because we were never informed about the hotel’s flag system indicating when they can enter. Our concierge simply forgot to explain it. Communication was almost impossible, as staff barely speak English and there is no in-room phone, and Wi-Fi was down due to a storm. By the time the terrace was cleaned, our food was cold — and no cutlery was provided. Going to the lobby would take another 10–12 minutes each way with no Wi-Fi to message anyone. We left and ate outside the hotel, and then received a message saying they wanted to charge us for the breakfast. We asked to speak to a manager; none were available until the end of our stay. In the lobby, one woman tried to help but another stood behind her smirking, which felt disrespectful. Our concierge Elisabeth replied extremely slowly, spoke poorly English, didn’t know the hotel’s offers, and couldn’t help us book basic services we saw clearly available. Summary The hotel is absolutely breathtaking — but the service made our stay unnecessarily stressful. It’s an unforgettable place, but the management needs serious improvement. If not for the amazing jacuzzi and views, we would likely have checked out earlier.

Pleasant
The balcony and baths were amazing, the rural nature of the property and the craftsmanship were so impressive. The location was good and the views were stunning.
The lack of privacy especially in the bedrooms, people could see in from every angle. The lack of lighting in the bedroom was unbearable. The hotel boasts an eco ethos and claims to light candles in every bedroom at sundown, however this never happened and we were left in the dark calling for candles almost every night. The toilet barely had a door and did not flush. Therefore had to use the hotel public toilets.

Everything was perfect from start to finish! Every little detail was amazing—the staff, the atmosphere, and the peaceful surroundings. It was exactly what my husband and I needed for our honeymoon, just the two of us. The place was calm, romantic, and truly unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful
The structures of the buildings are the best. It’s a unique hotel with a lot of cool wood, bamboo and awesome architecture. Staff is kind, and it was neat to stay there and visit the museums. We recommend the museum that is further away from the resort.
The restaurants are really expensive.

The property is gorgeous. Staff is great and very helpful. They changed our room to a quieter location on the second floor. Elizabeth our angel was very helpful. Paola helped us check out and coordinate taxi to airport.
Rooms on the 1st floor can hear a lot of noise from rooms above.

Disappointing
We were married here 25 years ago. We were given a free upgrade. We love the location. We love the feel of the uniqueness of this place. we were upgraded to the sea Villa, which was a very nice compliment.
I feel prices were extremely high. But then again, I understand the cost of maintenance and maintaining such a unique place is also quite high. We were very disappointed with the Italian restaurant. We’re here during the slow season. We were the only ones there. Our eggplant appetizer dish with mushrooms was off. I believe the mushrooms were on the rancid side. Being in the restaurant business, I should have said something, but we were just kind of done.

Looks Dreamy in Photos — Reality is Uncomfortable and Poorly Managed Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ I stayed in a Sea Villa at Azulik in June 2025, drawn in by the breathtaking photos and serene concept. Unfortunately, the actual experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish. Room Condition & Comfort: The villa was worn out and far from what the polished photos depict. The air conditioning barely worked, and the entire room remained humid at all times—even with the balcony doors closed. The bed linens were constantly damp, and I never managed to get a single night of comfortable sleep throughout the stay. Lack of Basic Amenities: Shockingly, there was no kettle, no coffee machine, and not even a mini fridge in the room. For a resort that markets itself as a luxurious, nature-integrated escape, the absence of such basic comforts is simply unacceptable. The idea of enjoying a coffee on the balcony overlooking the sea becomes impossible. Noise with No Warning: There was loud drilling coming from a nearby room with no warning or heads-up from the staff. No messages, no notices—just constant disruptive noise, which defeats the entire purpose of a peaceful getaway. Poor Service Repeatedly: I ordered room service multiple times across different days, specifically asking not to forget basic items like ketchup, soft drinks, and lime wedges. These were ignored every single time. The lack of attention to detail and follow-through was frustrating. Serious Incident — Staff Indifference: My friend was in a serious car accident during our trip. After spending hours in the hospital, she returned to the hotel bruised, stitched up, and limping. I asked the receptionist, Anna, if she could assist in getting a cane or guide us to a pharmacy.
