Everything was just perfect

The restaurants, the waiters gave priority to foreigners even-though I traveled with a friend of mine who is a foreign. As they saw I was a Mexican they didn’t pay attention to us

The room is way overpriced, has a dated feel, and the bathroom toilet was very loud. The couch needs to be replaced. The reception lady tried to upsell the room, and I was unhappy with a second floor room when the Hotel is not busy. The spa person upsold the moisturizer she used for message.

The room was large and in a beautiful location, but it was run down. Upon arrival, the main light, phone and bath tub didn't work. Maintenance fixed the lamp & phone, but the tub was never fully repaired. (It took a 1/2 hour to fill.) There were obvious repaired dents in the walls. There weren't enough electrical outlets. And for such a large room, there was no desk. Getting lunch at the bar by the beach took over an hour. Everyone else was getting served, but our order didn't come out until we requested it numerous times. The waiter apologized, then laughed it off. He said something about the cook talking with his girlfriend. When Marriott owned this hotel, every single time we passed house-keeping or maintenance staff, we were greeted with a cheerful,"Buenos Dias!" or "Hola!". Everyone at the Front Desks were cheerful and helpful. No longer the case. It's wasn't as friendly as it used to be. Most employees had a serious look on their faces, they didn't smile, and guests were not acknowledged. The snack items in the coffee shop could really be expanded, to include nuts, cookies, candy, etc.

I thought breakfast was included in the reservation.

Very Disappointing Stay – Poor Service, Room Issues, and Lack of Professionalism We booked an oceanfront room at the Puerto Vallarta Marriott Resort & Spa from Friday through Wednesday. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. The first room we were assigned had a leak coming from the roof. The hallway outside the room was also in poor condition, with stucco peeling and hanging from the ceiling. After we complained, we were moved to another room. While this second room was slightly closer to the water, the view was still nearly the same and did not qualify as a true oceanfront room. To see the ocean, we still had to look far to the left, while a condominium building was directly in front of us. Additionally, the couch in the room had a strong humid, pungent, dirty smell. At that point, we were already frustrated and did not want to complain again, but this further affected our comfort during the stay. Our dining experiences were also unpleasant. At dinner on-site, we were seated in the back with a poor view, even though several ocean-view tables were available and empty. Service was very slow — we waited a long time for our food and again for the check. Meanwhile, the table next to us, an older white couple, received very attentive service. As a brown couple in our 30s, the difference in treatment was noticeable and uncomfortable. The following morning at the breakfast buffet, we were chased down by not one but two staff members asking for our room number and demanding two signatures for payment. This was embarrassing, inappropriate, and could have been handled discreetly and professionally at the table rather than in a public setting. Due to a family emergency, we had to leave early on Monday morning. When we asked the front desk about a refund for the unused nights, we were told to contact Booking.com. Booking.com stated they sent two emails to the hotel, which Marriott later claimed were never received.

I was promised an extra bed when we checked in, but it never came, also there was not enough space in the room for the extra bed.

The sewer smell

This was not at any fault of the hotel, but the only issue we faced was the distance from the "romantic zone". The cost of travelling to local shopping was too far. If you do not plan on travelling and take advantage of the local shopping, then be prepared to spend a lot on travelling to both shopping and popular restaurants to experience. Otherwise, we absolutely enjoyed the resort and all the amenities it had to offer. The only other concern, was hearing from some longer term customers, that there was talk about changing this Hotel into an "All Inclusive", which turned into quite lengthy conversations in the pool area, that this Hotel may risk the chance of loosing some of the longer term loyal customers. I agree, it should stay the same, as it has a good feeling of being exclusive and higher end that some travellers prefer.

There was an area blocked off for construction but didn’t hinder my stay

I travel extensively and for the first time we went home early, because of a poor hotel experience. It was so bad, I still paid for the nonrefundable night we didn’t use. We just wanted to get out of there. Marriott’s marketing notes this is a luxury resort and you will see from the outdated facility (though being upgraded as you will hear from the work being done) to the frayed and stained pool towels that is a stretch. There were constant issues (service, room, feeling unsafe with amenities, and feeling unsecure after someone - possibly staff? - dumped our stuff, removed our towels from our pool loungers and gave them to someone else while we were in the spa) which I started to type out in detail, but this review was turning into a long paper and recounting it all is upsetting. I have traveled the world, and bottom line, Marriott PV was the worst stay we’ve ever experienced.

Rooms Pools Beach

I was a bit disappointed with the landscaping and pools. Just not a fan of dark pools with pebble floor and prefer blue azul pools

The rooms had a persistent bad smell, and I had to switch rooms twice. The property overall feels outdated and in need of renovation. Worst of all, the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, which really affected the experience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
