We asked the concierge for help planning an excursion and it took them so long to get back to us (we were told that we had to message them) that we had to make other arrangements.

We were not disappointed by our stay. The El Taj penthouse suite we stayed in was large, with two beds and two baths and a full kitchen/living area. We could have easily shared the space with several more friends. We had a patio which we spent lots of time on, but also a private roof terrace with a hot tub, grill, and seating. We loved just chilling up there. it’s a steeper price but a good option to treat yourself. Thank you to Isidro (?) for his help, Teresa for housekeeping, and the rest of the staff.

Very Poor
This was one of the most misleading and frustrating hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
We booked a 3-bedroom penthouse through Booking.com based entirely on the photos and description. The room was advertised as having a partial sea view, but in reality there was NO sea view at all.
On top of that, the jacuzzi and terrace shown in the listing photos are NOT part of the room. They are located upstairs in a shared common area, which was never clearly stated. This is nothing short of false advertising.
Additionally, the elevator was not working and we were on the 3rd floor.
When we raised our concerns and asked for a solution, we were told we had to pay an additional $170 just to get a room with an actual sea view — something we believed we had already paid for.
In total, we paid $2,000 for 4 nights, which is completely unacceptable for this level of misrepresentation and service.
The manager at reception was unhelpful, impatient, and unwilling to offer any compensation or a free upgrade, despite the clear mismatch between the listing and reality.
This experience felt like a bait-and-switch. Do not trust the photos or descriptions of this property.

Nice condo hotel with very well stocked units (cutlery, coffee maker, drinking water). Location is great with a very short walk to lively areas with loads of bars and restaurants. The Ocean view is fantastic, and so are the staff who are extremely helpful! There's no gym on the facility, but you're provided with a voucher to a gym across the road (3 min walk). The reception also lets you borrow stuff hassle free (body boards, umbrellas, beach chairs). We loved the place!
Thought it's right on the ocean, the amenities on the beach (beach chairs) are not part of the property and you need to order stuff from the restaurant next door to be able to enjoy them. Also it's quite rocky and not suitable for swimming. The public beach is around a 15 min walk, but as mentioned above the condo hotel provides stuff for you to to borrow. Despite this, would not hesitate to stay here again!

The property is beautiful, and the staff—especially those at the front entrance—were very kind, welcoming, and helpful. The location is also great and very convenient for walking around Playa del Carmen, with plenty nearby.
While the room was spacious, it was extremely dark. Our room was in the building behind the main building, and the bedroom windows were lined with film, making it feel like nighttime even during the day. Because of this, the room didn’t feel very cozy or inviting.
The pool area is nice but heavily shaded by surrounding buildings, with very limited seating. There is also limited beach access, so we didn’t end up spending much time using the hotel amenities, as they didn’t quite meet our expectations.

I did not like the pool area. Only a few chairs to lounge. Lounge chairs need to be updated. Wasn't really a pool we can relax? The space was too small.

We enjoyed how conveniently located it was. It’s right on the main street, so everything is just steps away—restaurants, shops, and activities are all within walking distance.
hotel has two sides of buildings, which wasn’t clarified in the description or reflected in the photos. The room we were assigned was actually in the building away from the ocean, so it was disappointing when we checked in and realized It didn’t match the photos, we had no idea there was a separate building that didn’t adjacent to the ocean.
There were also some issues with the shower during our stay, which added to the frustration.
