The food was outstanding. The service was 20 out of 10. The property was immaculately clean.
The pools are on the smaller side so there’s not a lot of lounge chairs unless you get out there early. That was my only issue.

After I checked out, the hotel let me use the facilities until I left for the airport afternoon
I requested an upper-level room two months before check-in, but I was given a first-floor room right in front of the entertainment pool, which was very busy. That was disappointing.

I got violently sick at one of the restaurants. The staff was dismissive and said it’s cultural. This was probably my 7th time visiting Cancun specifically. I’m 35 and I’ve never had food poisoning. My entire trip was compromised. I wish there were consequences for carelessness in food handling.

The food was excellent and absolutely delicious. The service was perfectly organized, so everyone feels well taken care of and always knows where to go and what to do. Special thanks to the older lifeguard on the beach who was always kind and helped us find a place.
The yoga classes and gym sessions were fantastic, and the hotel app was extremely helpful for ordering and organizing everything. Our room with a jacuzzi was simply amazing.
The only downsides were the extra-paid lobster tail, which was very salty (we informed the staff twice), and the strange points and guest classification system on the beach.

We stayed at the property for during 4th of July holiday and they put on a phenomenal 4th of July event with multiple live bands, fire performers, fireworks, and even a bull riding rink. The restaurants for the evenings had good variety with the steakhouse being our favorite.

Menu below expectations (we tried out the special menu for New year's eve; and we had dinner at the asiatic restaurant)
Attention to customer below expectations: we were welcomed by a card in our room with the wrong name "welcome ". We asked for room service but never arrived even if asked multiple times, and had to cancel the order. We called for restaurant reservations days before our arrival but we were told that reservations were not needed: they were actually needed, and we were not able to eat where/when we wanted during our staying.

I cannot say enough good things about the Sun Palace. I have celiac disease and was so well accommodated, I will definitely be back. Efraim and Estriella were absolutely incredible and so kind!
There was never a shortage of loungers on the pool or beach and Silvio (not sure if I spelled that right) made sure our drinks were never empty.
Food was great, location was great, 11/10

The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. The food was okay. There were some things that were very tasty, and others were average or below average. Very pretty view from the hotel room but it's blinding in the morning.
The pillows are horrible. So flat. You need at least 3 or 4 to feel like you're sleeping on one normal size pillow. I didn't like that you had to dress formal to eat at 2 of the restaurants, and wasn't informed about that before flying, so we didn't eat at either of those places. It's a pretty small resort and nothing near to walk around and see so it felt like we were stuck there unless we took an Uber elsewhere.
