Very Poor
Honestly nothing. Very bad experience
This was one of the most disappointing resort experiences our family has ever had.
The biggest issue was the service culture. Throughout our stay, many staff members seemed far more interested in selling upgrades, memberships, and packages than actually helping guests. Genuine hospitality was surprisingly hard to find.
We are happy to tip for good service, but what bothered us was the feeling that some employees had already decided whether guests were “worth helping” before any service was even provided. Several interactions left us feeling judged rather than welcomed.
Check-in was another major problem. We waited over an hour despite very few people being in line. The front desk employee who assisted us was rude and dismissive. He insisted that our room could not accommodate the bedding arrangement shown on our reservation and attempted to push a room upgrade costing more than $700 per night. Only after requesting a manager and waiting even longer was the issue resolved without the expensive upgrade.
The rooms felt old, humid, and outdated. Bedding felt damp, and the overall condition was far below what we expected at this price point.
The food was equally disappointing. Despite having many restaurants, we struggled to find a single memorable meal. Even specialty restaurants served food that was poorly prepared.
Activities were limited, the pools closed surprisingly early, and several events were canceled. The beach was covered with seaweed and debris, and unlike many nearby resorts, there appeared to be little effort to keep it usable.
What makes this especially frustrating is that Moon Palace charges prices comparable to many higher-end resorts in Cancun. After leaving, we stayed at another resort in a similar price range, and the difference in service, food quality, accommodations, and overall experience was dramatic.

Wonderful
The restaurants were good, every single staff member was fantastic, and we had so much fun at the pool. The all inclusive even included the minibar in our room--which was especially great for the huge bottles of water they provided--and they also provided a bath towel and slippers! The Palace Company transportation to and from the hotel and airport was super convenient and made us feel more comfortable.
The bed sheets smelled a little musty; however I don't think the resort staff is at fault for this (i.e. it was not due to a lack of cleanliness). Whenever we approached our building, you could faintly smell mustiness--I think it is because the building includes so much real wood and the area is too humid to allow for that without it getting to much moisture. We also didn't go to the beach because there was tons of seaweed and it just didn't look that appealing (but the resort definitely kept the beach clean.) Be aware that the ocean is not anything like the picture shows--the water is not clear. However, we had so much fun at the pool and with all the pool activities that we did not care about not using the beach.

Food quality is bad. You do have to pay for transportation to/from the airport. They call you everyday to try selling more vacations. Buildings are ugly.

Staff is extremely nice and helpful. The room in the Grand was amazing.
The initial room in the Sunrise was not as imagined. We were expecting accommodations to sleep 4 adults. It was my husband, myself, and our 20 year old son. Although there was a sleeper sofa, we had to request a roll-away bed. There was no door for privacy that separated the common area from the bedroom. The dining table had many ants on it when we woke up the second day we were there. We we're upgraded to the Grand, and the room was much better. Outside of the building, 93, there was a horrendous smell. We were told it was rotting seaweed. The second night at the Grand, there was a huge cockroach in the master bedroom bathroom. This morning, when we left, there was a huge cockroach in the master bedroom bathroom. I'm not sure if it was the same one. My husband removed it with a towel and placed it outside from the balcony.

Very Good
I love the suite very spacious, wonderful Jacuzzi tub, and breathtaking views. Loved the play room for the children . Most restaurants are good. Spa excellent
Most staff were friendly, took a long time to receive our room service then forgot some items. I did not like that they invited my family to view a presentation and promised to give us free access to one of the pools as well as restaurants. We did not receive anything. It was a hassle and a waste of time. They will offer great things but be aware of the scams. This place is set to take your money the time you walk in.. sell you a so-called membership. Beautiful place to stay for vacation but horrible motives.

This is the best all inclusive my family n I have stayed in so far. The food was top tier, the staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities was well maintained and there was plenty to do to occupy our time. The late night vibes with the live music in the lobby lounge was awesome. Especially appreciated the golf carts to get around the resort. Highly recommend the Brazilian restaurant at Nizuc. This resort was worth the cost.
The tap water in the shower smelled really bad

All inclusive, selection of food/restaurants
Sombrero building needs a renovation. The elevator wasn’t functioning and I am a senior with limited mobility. Housekeeping didn’t replenish body wash in shower until I asked after we ran out, selection of coffees and sweeteners was never replenished

Location to the beach. The swimming pool was fantastic!
The first day we were there, they were taking down a stage by the beach and it was very noisy.
Also, our room was without power for about 6-8 hours. A transformer blew and nothing was communicated to us about it.

We had a great overall stay at Palace Resort and really enjoyed several aspects of the property. The golf carts were a huge plus and made getting around the resort easy and fun, especially with kids. The playroom was another highlight—it was well set up and kept the kids entertained, which allowed us to relax more.
The food was very good, with a nice variety and quality that exceeded our expectations. While some of the service was excellent and friendly, it was a bit inconsistent—some staff members were wonderful and attentive, while others were less so.
Overall, it was an enjoyable stay with great amenities and a family-friendly atmosphere. With more consistent service, it would be an even better experience. We would consider staying again.
While we enjoyed several amenities at the resort, including the golf carts, playroom, and the food, the service unfortunately took away from the overall experience. From check-in to check-out, some staff members were condescending and rude, which made a few situations more difficult than they needed to be rather than easy or helpful.
As a mother traveling with young children, I found this especially disappointing. Hospitality should feel supportive and accommodating, not stressful. I did not appreciate this treatment and would strongly suggest reconsidering staffing choices and/or providing additional customer service training to ensure a smoother and more welcoming experience for guests.
Because of these experiences, I will definitely have to reconsider whether I would return to this hotel in the future. I would rather stay somewhere where guests are treated with kindness and respect.

Great amenities such as pool and restaurants. Very well maintained. Loved the golf cart system and its staff! Very friendly staff!
Unfortunately, due to algae the beach was not accessible (wonder if the small strip of algae and debris could have been cleaned).
There were often trays from room service left unattended for extended periods of time in front if rooms.
Presentation for membership at Moon Palace and “bonus system” is a well-oiled machine and incredibly genius from the business perspective but an annoyance and rip-off for guests. Will be smarter next time…
