Poor
It was clean, and the woman who was in charge of cleaning, and checked us in was the only pleasant employee we encountered.
The noise was overwhelming. Our room was directly across from a church bell tower that rang every thirty minutes, this cannot be controlled, but should have been mentioned! Combined with the street noise we resorted to headsets all night, but we didn’t have enough! And could still hear the trucks backing up, and all the parties. We did not appreciate the spiral staircase to get to the bathroom, for us it was dangerous. The shower was warm only the second day, and only for the first moment, then back to cold. The noises from the restaurant downstairs were loud-the work noise plus the clients at night seated outside, below our window were jarring until the early morning. We got help the second day to operate the TV-it needed a different cord, took two employees to finally explain to use two clickers-only one had been provided originally. The window does not shut completely. The room door has a window above it letting in the hall light—keeping room constantly lit. The breakfast staff were openly rude. The mattress so uncomfortable. And we had to pay upfront when we checked-in! The decor and charm of this location do not make up for our BAD experience. The other reviews mentioned the winding main staircase, and I will reiterate that you must manage your luggage on your own, and descend six flights of stairs out a side door if leaving in the morning before the restaurant opens. Refund needed.

Beautifully decorated and in the heart of the city. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was super good.
It was a bit noisy. A bar nearby had music with heavy base beat. But the music quit after 11pm and it was 2 out of 6 nights.

Very Good
Location was great - very centrally located so we could walk to a lot of places. Matthew was very helpful with directions & suggestions. Breakfast was great! Bathroom freshly remodeled.
Since our room was right outside the reception desk, it got noisy sometimes

Wonderful
Perfect location next to the 'Caravaggio' church. Beautiful bedroom in building with many vintage findings. Excellent breakfast: choice of traditional English or Continental, but they also serve omelets if that's what you prefer. Minutes walk to bus station and (with elevator) to harbor for ferries to Gozo and Sicily (we took the one to Marina di Ragusa, which includes bus to Ragusa). With the many frequent and inexpensive Malta bus services (simple debit card check-in) we stayed at Luciano's for our complete trip in Malta while touring both the East and West side of the island, and Gozo.
A great improvement would be if Luciano's decides to add a bar on the top terrace with great city views.

Good
Excellent location. Very friendly staff at the restaurant and the food was delicious. Appreciate the breakfast and the discount for guests. Like the quirky decorations and vibe
Room was musty. Also no usual hotel services. We had to leave the hotel early in the morning to catch a ferry. Elevator was not available as the entrance to the hotel is through the restaurant which was not yet open

Very Good
The location was fantastic. Everything was a walking distance away from the front door. While there was never anyone at the reception desk, the wait staff in the restaurant facilitated everything that we needed on our stay. That seemed to be the process, and it worked out well.
The beds were lacking. You need to bring your own toiletries.

Exceptional
The location was great with easy access to everything in Valletta and also the rest of Malta being only minutes from the bus station and Gozo High Speed Ferry. Hotel and staff were excellent. Couldn't be better.

Disappointing
The location is phenomenal
The staff doesn’t care about the guests at hotel! They are there to run a restaurant. They act like they are doing you a favor. The pre paid breakfast is awful. They only give you two choices. We were there for 8 days and had to eat the same thing every time. When they served you coffee you ask for extra sugar and they never did bring it in 8 days of asking for!!

The location is central and within walking distance to many attractions.
1. The Co-Cathedral is across the street and the bells ring every hour. I did not sleep well.
2. The heating unit was not in a good place to heat the entire unit. When downstairs I was cold. When upstairs is was comfortable…but there were no windows and the lighting was dim.

The location is perfect!!! Sophie was amazing - she helped make our stay incredible!!!
We traveled with our 82 year old parents so the stairs were difficult for them. Sophie was amazing and made sure they had a room that was easily accessible from the elevator

The staff was very nice and the location was in the middle of the center.
There was no window and poor air conditioning. It felt quite claustrophobic for me. There is no elevator since it's an old building.

This is not a boutique hotel, the room was poor, cramped shower room, lack of toiletries, no tea/coffee facilities. Staff poorly trained, room access via unsafe steps. Very noisy in the early hours. There is a lot more bad issues.

Disappointing
The location was convenient to Valletta sites. Breakfast was generous and good. The wait staff in the restaurant, where we ate the included breakfast and most dinners, were wonderful. The room was air-conditioned.
The photos and descriptions on the website are very misleading. It claimed to have a roof patio with beautiful views. It has views but it is piled high with junk and broken furniture, large propane tanks (with piles of cigarette butts nearby). Even the photo with the booking confirmation that showed twin beds that we asked for, was not the room or bed they tried to give us. We had to insist on being changed. Our room was windowless and next to the reception desk in the un-airconditioned lobby. It was supposed to have a view onto the inner courtyard but the 'window' was only a strong shuttered hole with no glass. Other than the restaurant, there was no place to sit and relax - not room, lobby, or rooftop.
