Very Good
The location is great, the property is beautiful, and the pool area has a lot of potential. The staff were friendly, and the hostel has a nice social atmosphere. I also really enjoyed the sea views and the overall setting
The pool bar was not always open, and there was often no music around the pool, which reduced the vibe and made the atmosphere less lively. The Maltese breakfast was also disappointing and, in my opinion, should either be significantly improved or removed

Good
Great location, only a few steps away from Balluta Bay Beach. Booked a room at a great discounted price. It was surprisingly quiet. The front yard and the pool area were beautiful.
The room was a mess. Water was constantly dripping from the A/C and nobody did anything to fix it. They literally placed a bucket under it to collect the water. At some point it was difficult to sleep with the noise it made.
I received a towel that was visibly dirty, the curtains of my bed were nasty.
The breakfast was okay but nothing special. At some point i received a piece of bread with mold on it.
They wouldn’t keep my luggage for free after I checked out.

Very Good
Great location, easily accessible for public transport
Good facilities, comfortable beds
Staff was helpful, made an exception and allowed me to have breakfast early due to my early pickup times for activities
Great community, met very cool people
AC is a lifesaver in the Malta heat
Charge extra for luggage storage using Bounce app
Laundry was good to have onsite but very time consuming
One of the showers was out of service in our room which created some inconvenience

The location is good and staffs are nice.
The bathroom is a bit small. It’s a bit laud during night and the room is a bit humid.

Poor
The location was convenient for exploring St. Julian’s and the surrounding waterfront. The downstairs lounge and shared kitchen were attractive, and the hostel organized social events that could be helpful for solo travellers wanting to meet people. The cleaning workers also came frequently, which I appreciated. Having coffee and tea available at breakfast was another positive.
The biggest problem was that I could barely sleep. The AC blasted directly across the upper bunks at about 19°C on full power. Several guests complained, but there was no practical temperature control. Staff first told me to find a remote that was not in the room, then turned the AC off, making the room hot and humid. When another guest complained, staff switched it back to the same freezing setting during the night and woke me again. I developed serious respiratory symptoms and later sought medical care. I cannot prove the AC caused them, but the extreme conditions badly affected my sleep and comfort.
A very bright motion-activated light also switched on repeatedly throughout the night, sometimes when people merely passed outside. My top bunk had no shielding from either the light or AC.
The ensuite was poorly maintained and designed: the bathroom and shower doors were flimsy and did not lock properly, the toilet repeatedly leaked or clogged, and there were no hooks or shelves for clothes or toiletries. The wristband room key was often unresponsive, and the door once became stuck locked. Under-bed storage was difficult to open and caught on the lower bunk's curtain, disturbing that guest.
Breakfast was extremely cramped, with a tiny serving area, nowhere to place food-container lids while serving yourself, and often no seating. The selection was limited and repetitive, alternating between basic eggs, vegetables, toast and sweets, or a tuna sandwich with pea pastries. Croissants cost extra. The hostel generally felt too small for its number of guests: check-in, breakfast and common areas became congested, organized groups took over much of the lounge and tiny pool area, and events could be very loud. Staff often seemed disengaged, communication was poor, and I felt uncomfortable repeatedly asking for help. The shared kitchen was nice, but the food-labelling rule was not clearly explained at check-in, and my food was removed. Poor value for €43/night.

Wonderful
This hostel really invests in their common spaces (they have a pool, garden, balconies, terrace) and had really nice guests and staff which makes it really easy to meet people here. I’ve stayed at 3 places in Malta and liked this one the best

I book this for my daughter she said the facilities are beautiful that the building looks like a castle. The free breakfast was good in the morning free coffee as well. staff very friendly.
My daughter told me that the AC was broken and after complaining a few days they bought in two portable AC units. She was complaining about the heat and it was only the beginning of June and I hear it gets super hot in Malta so just make sure that the AC is working. For what I understand it does cool down at night in Malta but she needed the AC to sleep.

Good
It was a very nice property, clean, plenty of room, nice common areas. Kitchen was kept very clean. For the dorm room, I stayed in an all female 4 bed dorm and the beds were nice. Location was good.
The bathroom in the dorm room set up was a little awkward though. The sink was just in the room, not behind a wall or door and had a motion sensor light so anytime anyone used it or even walked by it in the night, the light would come on illuminating the whole room. And only one person could be at the sink and the only mirror at one time so if you wanted to brush your teeth but a girl stood there for 30 minutes doing her makeup, you either had to leave the room to go to a common bathroom and hope no one was in it or just wait. The toilet was very tiny and just behind a thin plastic door right in the room so very little privacy. There was a party vibe and very loud music and shouting at night that could be heard from the room but the staff did shut it down at 11pm so that was nice. Staff was not very friendly unfortunately. Seemed like they felt very bothered.

Pleasant
- decent size beds
- good breakfast yet simple - I liked it
- location next to some kind of huge wild garden with a lot of sparrows and wild chickens (real thing) and rooster screaming each sunset
- great, interesting people of different age and interests with whom I spent nice time chatting about different stuff.
KITCHEN SANITARY ISSUE:
- permanent no warm water in kitchen which lead to situation where all dishes clean by people or personnel had huge sanitary issues (although looked clean)
- water in cutlery container - not one time, all the days - no one form personnel was cleaning that, so then you took your fork, spoon you needed to clean them first
- 2x time lack of shower warm water (receptionist said - maybe someone took shower before you. Weird, are you sun warming water or just turning off boiler heating for night?)
INTEGRITY ISSUE: with hostel page. If I know it is not true I would select other hotel, and spent my 400 EUR ELSEWHERE.
Hotel page says:
Luggage Storage: We’ll hold onto your bags before check-in or after check-out.
Which if half-true. On check-in, no problems, on check-out I heard: "this is only for hotel guests and you should use Bounce".
Bounce is external company and charged ne over 10 EUR for 2 bags and it is not matter of money, but as said INTEGRITY.

- hobo in guest tv room was spending whole night between 23-24 April and playing online cassino on his notebook. I witnessed conversation between hostel owner/manager "M:did you spend whole night here? H: Yes. M: I checked you have not paid for stay. H: My friend said he paid. M: He did not paid".
Secondary: All 10 days of my stay, I want believe guest at that time, was very annoying conversating at loud for hours using his tablet and no headphones. Walking across hostel space, restaurant garden, tv room always wearing the same sweat-blouse and pants. "He may could you please be more quiet" he was prompted by guest. "But I have no headphones....

Wonderful
The hostel is really nice, I booked extra nights in the spot. Public areas are good and clean. Because of the curtains around the beds you have some privacy. It was quiet, no party hostel.
It’s big and harder to meet people, not very cozy hostel for that. But you always see people around so it’s also up to you.
