The location of this hotel is great. But I would not recommend this place to stay for many reasons
Old post-soviet building. It was very noisy at night. Breakfast was awful, it wasn't really a breakfast..

Very clean, close to the city center, old school and charming, a very soviet vibe. Also a great view of the main boulevard from the rooms upstairs.

Toilet seat not working.
I have to open the water tap for at least 15 minutes to get lukewarm water for showering, and the water temperature is low, not enough to take a shower.
Breakfast is very poor. It consists of a small cup of coffee or tea with one small piece of pastry.

Desk clerk spoke some English, Room was clean, breakfast was a welcome bonus. I booked because it looked like the hotel had been left in its historical state, and it did not disappoint! Beautiful old building, excellent view from room, gorgeous parquet floors and grand stone stair case. It felt like stepping back in time in Chishnau! Rooms had everything you need with nothing you dont. Perfect for a budget traveler too. Would book again!
Honestly cant think of a thing they should change. I hope more will visit Chishnau and stay in this beautiful old hotel.

The location is in the city centre which is convenient
The overall state of the hotel is terrible. It smells like a very old building and there has not been renovation for over 20 years. Terrible smoke smell in rooms. Not possible to make some tea or coffee in the room. No proper breakfast (just coffee and pastry).

Run down. Furniture, bedding and linen are older than my great grandparents. No a/c. Couldnt get hot water they posted a sign to get hot water by turning the hot water tap if the tub and the sink on for 20 minutes. Even after 20, 30, and 60 minutes there is no hot water. Door to the room was broken/kicked or something in the pastthe repair on it was a shoddy patch of plywood. Other guests use this place as permanent living and have loud conversations late into the night. After 1am I had to ask the security guard to have the residence to be quiet. There is no 24-hour desk, even though they post it on their listing. Building entrances are locked at night, you are locked out if you return to the hotel late and locked in if there is a fire.. and the towels are so old and scratchy that you could start a fire by drying yourself after your ice-cold shower.

Pros: - Amazing location - Nice staff who tried to help and make the stay comfortable - I was able to check-in early without having to pay extra - Large enough room which is nicely remodeled - The free, included breakfast is a coupon for some pastries from the window bakery on the first floor and a coffee.
Cons: - There was an air conditioning unit in my room, but it didnt work. I was given a fan instead. - I dont think that all the rooms are remodeled / currently being used. Its a bit scary at night as they dont turn on lights in the common areas until after sunset.

This hotel doesn't need to proof anything to anybody. It is Chisinau Hotel! The historicity speaks for itself. (If History is of interest to you, this is for you to go if you want to imagine who's occupied your room some 50+ years ago). It's simple, quaint, functional, adequately priced. A grumpy but friendly staff will open the door for you if you ring the bell after I think 10 pm it is. If you get there during any hour, go reception, pay them, get key, go elevator, go room. Doesn't matter what language you speak. They know why you're there. Easy, fun experience. )
If you don't bring beer in with you after dark, they don't have any to sell to you. (Local law I think.)

Location, atmosphere - great. The 60s in all their glory, not everyone will like it on the other hand, life is full of small challenges. - air conditioning great - bathroom clean - hassle-free check-in. - staff very friendly.
breakfast is rather one big misunderstanding. But it's worth a try to know what the word "misunderstanding" means

The location is perfect in the city center, with views of the bustling main street, and the World War 2 monument. It really is a good viewpoint of the city to see how life gets along for the locals. The breakfast, now you can get from the next door coffee shop for free, which is quite convenient. It's not an entire meal, but it tastes good, and it's enough to get you through the morning. The hotel is also like living in a literal museum, as it's looked to be the same for it's entire period, which can make it a very special experience for Soviet history lovers, and history gurus.
The front desk service was slow, and unhelpful at times. The entrance to the hotel smells abandoned as well. Proof that unless you're a budget traveler, this hotel has seen it's better days.
