Wonderful
Communication with the manager, even before we got there, was very good.
All the staff were so helpful and polite and just lovely and friendly. They helped to carry our suitcases to and from the driver who collected us to/from the airport. They had organised a small surprise of rose petals and balloons in our room for my husband's birthday, at no extra cost.
The Riad is beautiful, very tastefully decorated and comfortable and location excellent for the Souks and nearby museums etc. Also near a taxi rank although staff more than ready to book this on our behalf.
The breakfast was extremely plentiful
The pool looked very inviting although we didn't use it.

A very nice Riad, staff was very gracious and helpful.
Unfortunately our room had a bad odor. The manager said it was from nearby construction worked. They worked hard to mitigate the smell, but it put a damper on our stay.

We booked Riad Shanima & Spa expecting a 4-star experience, but it fell far short of expectations.
- Staff were polite and helpful when available.
- Rooms were kept clean.
- WiFi was fast when it worked (but very spotty in areas, including our room).
❌ Breakfast was insufficient– Tiny portions left us hungry every morning.
❌ Missing basic amenities– No fridge, kettle, or daily complimentary water/coffee in the room. Having to go downstairs for hot water was inconvenient.
❌ Charged for coffee at checkout – We were shocked to find out the coffee we had in the common area wasn’t free (only tea was complimentary, which we learned at checkout).
❌ Bathroom lacked privacy – The window had no proper covering.
❌ Spa services overpriced – The hammam/spa prices are exorbitantly high that we did not bother to try.
❌ Main door locked at night – Having to knock for entry was inconvenient for both guests and staff.
❌ Dinner required advance booking by breakfast time– Ordering meals a so early in advance was impractical that we could not make it happen.
❌ Location felt unsafe at night – The surrounding area didn’t inspire confidence after dark.
PS: The 5-star reviews must be from friends of the owner.
Final Verdict:
This riad is not worth the price or 4-star rating. Between the lack of basic comforts, hidden charges, and poor service, it felt more like a budget hostel. We would not recommend staying here.

It’s an excellent property- interiors have been done very artistically. Look and feel is completely traditional while all modern amenities have been provided for convenience. Staff has been very courteous and supportive. They took really good care of us during our stay!

Great breakfast. Location very good for seeing old Marrakech, just a short walk to the souks and other sights. We did almost all of our visit on foot, just a short ride in a Tuk Tuk to see what it was like. Bear in mind that it is necessary to walk down narrow alleyways to get to the front door, we did this and felt safe, in fact the walk to the doorway added to our enjoyment of the riad. The staff were very friendly and 100% helpful throughout.

An absolute gem of a place. Staff were amazing and so friendly and helpful. Felt abit wary when we first got there as it was nearly midnight but one of the trolley boys assisted and got us to the Riad safely at a small cost.
Living in the centre of the old town and medina was perfect. I loved it and the staff in the Riad could not have been better in particular Adil who appeared to be the happiest person in Morocco ?? Place was so clean, quiet and peaceful and food was great. Pool was a bonus although small was great to have a soak in and was nice and warm. Rooftop terrace was amazing and so peaceful despite being in the centre of it all.
Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Myself and my friend had the the most wonderful stay in the riad shanima. It was spotless clean. Every member of staff were welcoming and friendly. This oasis of calm and tranquillity. The roof terrace was quiet, relaxing after a busy day. We had dinner on one evening. And it was delicious. We also took advantage of the hammam (which was amazing) and relaxing massage (which was also amazing). Thank you to the whole team for our wonderful stay.

This Riad is situated in the old Medina reached via narrow medieval passages accessible only on foot. Its facilities are excellent as are the staff, all of whom were attentive and helpful. We booked a taxi from the airport through the venue and the driver phoned ahead, alerted them of our arrival where we were met by a staff member who took our luggage for us and led us through the passageways to our destination. The riad has been largely rebuilt and thoroughly modernised taking care to maintain the style of architecture with modern facilities. 8 bedrooms and three suites comprise the accommodation with courtyard and dining areas as well as a spa, hammam and steam room. First class!
