There was a roach in the room. When we notified the staff he did not seem to be bothered by it. He did check the room and told us it went away. I asked if they had a bug spray or something and he said no. The bed linen was damp even on the first night. The manager was friendly but all he seemed to care was what he wants. He didn’t answer most of our questions and kept asking what he wanted, eg city tax payment albeit he initially said it’s ok to pay at the check out.

I was sad that the breakfast could not be served before 8am, so on days when we booked day-trips with an early pickup, we had to skip the meal. (Understandable though, I think it depends on when the nearest bakery opens.) The shower sink got a bit clogged after a few days of use: it's nothing you can't live with, but slightly annoying. However, even if it's renovated and proper, this is not a modern building, so such things are to be expected. If you travel during the summer like us (which I don't recommend by the way, I think Morocco must be much nicer and significantly less hot during springtime or autumn), expect the walls of the building to heat up so much during the day that they'll still be warm when you get back to your room in the evening: that's not too pleasant when you have your bed directly by the wall. Also, the room we stayed in was rather small, so we didn't really have much space to store our luggage, no wardrobe, no cupboard, only one coat hanger. Mind you, we travelled very lightly, with only two cabin-sized bags, so if you have a large suitcase, the room is going to feel even smaller. A small refrigerator in the room would have been nice so we could have kept some cold water there, but of course then the room would be even less spacious. But again, we are talking about a traditional riad, I think every accomodation in the old town is similar in this aspect. So, these things are all to be expected if you choose a riad instead of a hotel with european levels of comfort, so I'm not really complaining.

For the great value cost of the accommodation, would not complain about anything inside. A bit difficult to locate when dropped off by taxi in the main street/road.
