I have stayed at the Avalon many times before and have never been disappointed. The location at the edge of the Old Town of Riga is superb and very convenient both in terms of the major sights and in terms of transportation. The room I stayed at this time was spacious and comfortable and breakfast was filling and tasty, as always. Staff is also quite friendly and helpful. I feel very comfortable there.
In my case, not much to complain about.

The location is amazing, the hotel is very clean and the rooms have air conditioning (the weather was blazing hot). Peaceful and quiet too.
Moreover, the restaurant had damn good coffee ? Probably one of the best I’ve tasted and at 50, I’ve drank enough coffee to fill a lake ?
And my dry skin loved the water here, don’t know of it’s Riga or new plumbing that I have to thank for that, but it was definitely pleasant.
On top of that, they have a luggage room if needed after check-out, that allowed me some sightseeing before I left town.
If anything, the shower cabin was compact but fine for someone of lean build, at least in the one-person room. Washing very long hair was a bit of a task, but for shorter hair it’s fine.

They do them best to appear as a 5 star hotel and guests can feel it. Lovely place. First time in my life i saw an employee from 6am to 10pm cleaning and cleaning hall, bathroom of halls, and repeat. Amazing!
Undergound Garage entrance is very very very narrow!
i had to close my side mirrors to fit, very uncomfortable, but they has also normal parking outside entrance few spots only both 20 eur a day, which is half price of the room!
Some employee should not be there cause they dont let guest feel welcome, some of them never smile at you even if you do first, some dont even say hello. This is the worst an employee of hotel can do. Actually the main target of them work is to let feel good and welcome guests right?
I wont write here who, cause i don't even know the name, but to make this more easy, i can say the only one smile, happy and make me feel good is "Ika" a bartender was at bar on 7 and 8 jan evening, plus all staff of morning breakfast, they also smile and salute. all others no, especially receptioninst, and this is the most bad side to me!

Good location, near the market and the bus station. Close to the city center.
The room was little bit cold. Somebody has turned off the radiator. After some our it was warm and it wasn't problem then.

Very good location. Very clean hotel and amazing room. Had a view of St. Peter’s church and that made our experience even better. Breakfast was alright, decent selection but maybe overpriced for 15€.
Had issues connecting my phone with the TV. The room could have been a bit warmer..

We had a fantastic stay at the Avalon! The location is perfect, and our room was very comfortable and clean. As a family with a child, we tried the half-board, and the food was honestly great—way better than we expected from a hotel.

Great choice of food for breakfast. Location of the hotel is perfect between bus and train stations on one side and the old town on the other, both reachable in 5 minutes on foot. Very pleasant reception's staff.
Pillows were kind of hard/tough, but it's subjective, of course.

Close to old town and train station. Comfy bed, very good breakfast. Staff is friendly. Clean, safe.
From the train station to the hotel walking path is not very easy and feels different, it is not the hotel’s issue but the pavement is not the best for the luggage, and some road construction were going on.
