We were kindly greated by our nice host with a welcome drink on our huge private terrace. The room is clean and really big with a big fridge, small kitchen, washing machine and A/C. The A/C was working, but the room is very big so it did not cool down as fast as we were used to from other guest houses. It still worked fine and it was never too hot.
For the first time on our journey the host provided us with extra beach towels, not only towels for the room.
The breakfast was good and the cute Rottweiler keeping us company was a great extra.
We were quite stressed when we left, and the host gave us 2 bottles of water for free because he thought we looked too exhausted.
The location is central between different beaches, but to get to them you should take a tuktuk. Walking, it may take you from 30minutes to one hour to get there.

Turtle Lamp Villa in Unawatuna is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a true Sri Lankan experience. It’s located about a 15-minute walk from the beach, and you can easily get a PickMe or Uber for convenience.
The villa has four rooms, while the friendly owners live downstairs with their dog. They were very welcoming, and the owner's wife prepared delicious breakfasts for us every morning. The owner also checked in regularly to ensure we had everything we needed.
Our room was spacious and clean, with a separate kitchen, where we could cook or make coffee and tea. The private balcony was a great place to enjoy breakfast, and the bathroom had a shower (though the water pressure was a bit low, it added to the authentic Sri Lankan atmosphere).
We loved getting to know the owners and experiencing their hospitality. There are also several restaurants and bars nearby for lunch or dinner, and we enjoyed fresh coconuts and fruits from local stalls. A lovely touch was the welcome drink – fresh coconut from their garden!
If you're looking for a peaceful, authentic, and friendly place to stay, I highly recommend Turtle Lamp Villa for a relaxing getaway.

I thought the setting was fabulous. The sound of the birdsong was just beautiful and you were only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, but it was a haven of peace.
It was a bit tricky to find , especially at night coming back in a tuk tuk.

In addition to beautiful terrace, it was a private big kitchen with all furniture attached to the room.
It was also a washing machine available in the room.
The owner was very friendly, polite and supportive.
The local breakfast was very delicious. The fresh juice prepared from the properties' garden was awesome.
The room was in the first floor with some steps that was not a problem for us.
The path to the villa and the villa`s yard were very beautiful.

This is our favorite place in Sri Lanka. We are always happy to return to the wonderful Siri and Manila. A very calm and comfortable place. Great breakfasts - this time we asked for vegetarian ones from the local cuisine- what we didn't try?, very tasty and great for health?Manil is an excellent cook, and Siri knows all the medicinal properties of local plants?The guest house has 3 rooms - each has a kitchen and a washing machine. Everything is very conveniently arranged for life. Thank you very much, we will be glad to return?

Huge room and massive bed. Nice quiet setting and loved having breakfast served on our balcony each morning. Great hosts who were very helpful arranging early check out and ordering transport and a take away breakfast so we could catch the early train.
Would have chosen an air conditioned room as was very hot at night

Friendly owner and large comfy bed with mosquito net. There is a kettle with tea and coffee and a fridge. In a quiet area 20 walk from the main town/beach with but stop at the end of the drive and 10 minute ride to Galle Fort/Station. Lovely Breakfast and dog!
Our room did not have air conditioning and was so hot even with a fan. There are two rooms here one with and one without aircon so maybe consider that if that bothers you. Internet was very slow, we used data instead.

So far, the best guesthouse I've stayed in. The place is clean, the room is big and comfortable with everything you need - there’s even a kitchen & a watching machine. Also there is a nice balcony where I loved to stay!! You can sit, cool down and relax while watch the surrounding wildlife.
The hosts are extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast they prepared was excellent!
Truly, a perfect place to rest in Unawatuna, away from the crowds. I couldn't have wished for a better place to stay.

It's true that the location isn't really close to the beach or the city center, but it's easily accessible if you take a Tuk Tuk! And if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the perfect place to stay - personally, this was not a problem at all, and I loved my stay at Turtle lamp.

Nice, quiet place outside the village center. In fact, it is a small apartment - a bedroom, a kitchen, a wonderful terrace. Good parking space. Stable internet. The host is very nice, good breakfast.

Very clean apartments, there is a kitchen inside the number, washing machine and hot water. The internet was good, there is a table in the room and another table on the balcony. This was our favourite stay in our 2 months in Sri Lanka. The room is a great size with a little kitchen and breakfast balcony area. Set in really nice garden. Really quiet and the owner and his wife are lovely. Very helpful and kind. The place was very clean, we got our towels and sheets changed without asking. There is also a washing machine you can use. Breakfast was great with lots of food. Kettle and fridge in room.
Think we extended our stay about 3 times! Will definitely be back. Thank you! Yan & Claire

Beautiful place! You feel like beeing in the middle of the jungle. You can see and hear lots of animals like monkeys, peacocks, squirre and many others.
The room is very big. We had our own balcony with a beautiful view, our own kitchen and there was even a washing machine in our room.
The host is a very kind man. He showed us all the plants in his garden like starfruit, pineapple, avocado, banana and so on.
The breakfast was also very good.
In case you'd like to go to the jungle beach you should have something to drive with. Otherwise it's going to be a long hike. But we made it, so it's possible without tuk Tuk or motorbike as well.
