The host family were the loveliest we have met in Sri Lanka, going the extra mile to ensure we had a nice stay: They gave us fresh juice on arrival, provided transport if we needed, showed us the local turtles and where to go for a sunset swim, just across the road!
They were very accommodating to provide breakfast at the time that suited us and the food was delicious!
The room was well equipped with air con, mosquito net, wardrobe, towel rail and there is a nice balcony and living area just for their guests as well as private entrance if you prefer.
Their daughter speaks great English as well and we had a lovely evening cooking together with them learning how to make traditional Sri lankan dishes!
They have a beautiful garden with so many fruits and wildlife - we saw monkeys in the tree! The location was great, just outside the busy Unawatuna but right off the main coastal highway so really easy to get up or down but much quieter beaches.
Some noise from the train line but no trains overnight!

The hosts were lovely and kind. Good location to the beach where you can see big turtles swimming just by walking on the beach.
It was a particularly hot when I stayed so maybe an extra fan could be available when the weather is warmer then usual.

Chaminda's Guest House is the perfect place to stay if you want to spend your vacation right beside the ocean in the south of Sri Lanka. One of the most beautiful and calm beaches of the island is a three minutes walk away. When you are lucky, you can even spot giant sea turtles in the water.
Chaminda and and his wife Pryanka are the loveliest hosts and make you feel like home. We also had delicious homemade dinners, according to our food preferences and great fresh pressed juices. Chaminda and his family are very kind and super helpful and gave us a lot of tips, they showed us where to change money and also drove with us to the ATM when we didn't have our own scooter. Rooms are very clean and everything in the bathroom is functioning perfectly. There is also an A/C and good WIFI.
The house has a beautiful and spacious garden with lots of palm and papaya trees and sun beds to chill, it is also nice quiet with no loud traffic noise.
We definitely will come back to visit Chaminda's Guest House and enjoy great times with the family.
