The family is extremely nice and always ready to help. In the evening, we had a cooking lesson with the owner’s wife, who taught us how to prepare Sri Lankan curry. The food was delicious—the best we had on our entire journey through Sri Lanka.
The owner was also our driver in the national park and was very knowledgeable about the different animal species.
I would highly recommend this place if you want a true Sri Lankan experience. I would book here again 100%!

The host was amazing. He went out of his way to make sure we had a good time. Sujee (the host) was able to take us on the Safari and it was a highlight of our trip. He was an excellent tour guide and I would highly recommend.

It was absolutely amazing to stay at Suchi and his family. We had an exciting safari. Suchi didn’t care about how long you booked. He wants you to have an wonderful experience in the national park.
Location was clean, very good price and close to the park. Highlight is the dinner. Suchis wife is an outstanding cook!
Nothing to criticize, everything was perfect, that’s why extended for one night to have a cold beer with Suchi at his balcony.

Absolutely loved that it was rural based and macaque monkeys were about. Our host Sujee was brilliant, his family very welcoming and the food we were served was the best we had in Sri Lanka - so tasty. It was so easy to organise a trip to the Uda Walawe Park with Sujee and it was a fantastic trip and experience for us. The room we had was very comfortable and had all we needed.

It was marvelous!
+ During our stay at the Peacock Riverside Guest house, we did not only enjoy great service, an amazing safari, very clean rooms and delicious food, we also made such a wonderful friendship with Sujee.
Sujee and his wife and brother (who owns the restaurant around the corner) are such kind and lovely people. They always made sure that we have everything we need and arranged everything for us.
Sujee himself will be your guide for the safari.
Within our tour, we were really lucky and saw many different animals, as Sujee knows where to look and drive. He also introduced us to his squirrel friend „Chuty".
As for the rooms, they are very clean, equipped with a fan and ac and have modern wash rooms.
The rice and curry Sujee's wife prepred for us was more than amazing!
All in all, we could not have been happier during our stay and are glad to have made a friend like Sujee. We are looking forward to our next stay!

Very Poor
Very weird and scary situation happened to us in this stay.
I chose the accommodation in base of the good reviews but unfortunately I don’t know where they came from.
We made the reservation on booking and arrived in the late evening. At the beginning the owner seemed to be super helpful, friendly and nice. He offered us a tea and approached us very friendly with an offer for safari tour. Started explaining how his services are so much better and uncompetitive with others. The price for two people all day including snack and entrance fee was 200$. I asked for a cheaper option for half day no food and he said 150$. That’s was a 100% scam I know it so I just thanked him for the offer and try to nicely refuse. In the end I texted him that I am able to pay 95$ for 3-4 hours and entrance fee for two people and he texted me that he is interested.
The room was full of mold and smelly, for the blanket and controller of air conditioner I had to ask. On booking it says that there is WiFi that’s not true, you will not have even the signal.
When we turned off the light and get to sleep I remember that the are one more window doors with garden view. I asked my friend to check them if they are closed. When he checked the doors he saw someone standing there in the dark! We got out and tried to catch the person but couldn’t find him. I started to pack our bag immediately and 1-2 minutes from the incident we saw someone with the torch outside and it was the owner. We explained what happened and asked if it was him standing at our door and he denied. We can’t say how the owner got that fast close to our stay and even if it was standing there him or not. Anyway we knew that we need to get out of this place. We were scared to death so we didn’t blame him for anything just nicely explained that we don’t feel safe thanked him and left the place at soon it was possible.

The guest house is placed in front of a river and surrounded by coconut trees which allows for a wonderful natural experience.
The owner and staff were really helpful and enjoyed chatting with guests.
Suji organized the safari for us. We were really grateful for that and can totally recommend this adventure! He is a really great driver. He has all the information about the animals. We spent a full day in the park. Do contact Suji if you come to Udawalawe. May he give you a good experience.

Beautiful couple that run this villa! They are very welcoming and make you feel at home straight away.It is a quiet environment. The homecooked meals were excellent and probably the best food I have had in Sri Lanka. Sujee who was our safari guide was very knowledgable and went out of his way to show us the animals in there natural habitat and was very gentle in his approach. We were able to experience wild elephants coming up to our car... so special!

I chose a quiet room overlooking the river on the top floor.
The room is very nice and clean, the bathroom is big and clean, and the staff is very kind and helpful with everything.
We had drinks and lunch on the hut, while looking at birds and monkeys in the trees over the river (tip: bring some binoculars. We used ours alot looking at many different birds).
The food is very good and the surroundings while eating are so nice.
We booked our safari tour through the hotel, and when we asked the staff what time was best to go they said at 5.30 in the morning. And they were very correct.We booked a full day with him for Safari.
We had a jeep to ourselves. Our safari driver was so fun, nice and very observant. He was fast at driving (but still careful) and running (into the ticket office), so we were the very first to enter the park and within 10 seconds we saw two pregnant elephants and a wild boar with babies!
We had around 5-10 minutes with them alone before a few other cars came, and it was a great experience.
Our driver took us places where there were no other cars to see elephants, crocodiles, tucan birds, deers and many more animals. We felt like we were completely alone in the park. He could tell us many facts about animals and was very eager to show us how beautiful the park was.
He also made sure that we felt that we had seen enough and satisfied with the tour, and we really were.
This experience is something we will never forget, and the hotel and safari is definitely something we want to come back to.

Sujee and his family are amazing people and make you feel so settled into the accommodation. The rooms are very spacious and have a great balcony which looks out onto the river/the jungle. His wife is an AMAZING cook, she cooked traditional Sri Lankan foods for me throughout my stay which was an extra bonus! I would like to thank Sujee, his wife, his children, his brothers and his brothers wives for personally inviting me into their home over the Sri Lankan new years.
I am a solo traveler and did not have to worry about anything at all - Sujee sorted out my travel to Udawalawe and my travel onwards to Colombo!!
The Safari tour was such an amazing experience, Sujee is SO knowledgeable about all sorts of different animals and he is a great driver.
Thank you again for making my trip so enjoyable and making me feel so at ease!

Sujee was a great host and took us on a fantastic tour of the park. The accommodation was clean and spacious with breakfast included.
Sujee was also very flexible with safari options and available to help with onwards travel to wherever we wanted to go. Great value for money and highly recommended.

We had a wonderful two night stay at this lovely accommodation located in the middle of jungle. It was very peaceful and we were very well taken care by Surjee and his wife. Surjee is a safari guide at the Udawalawe National Park and his wife is an amazing home cook. If you choose to stay with them I highly recommend to eat there too.
The room was comfortable and clean. There was an electric fan and an air conditioner, shower and an outdoor seating place facing the jungle.
This is well suited for those who want to switch off and relax in a beautiful and calming surroundings.
Wi-Fi connection was poor. Outside the accommodation signal was a little better.

It was cheap
The owner wanted 145$ per person for the safari. That's a rip off! And a lot more expensive than all the other safaris in Sri Lanka. I did Eco Park for 25 and have friends that did Yala for 40$. The owner seems nice but something is completely off and I'm not just talking about the safari. I wouldn't recommend going here

The place is run by lovely and extremely friendly owner. He cares a lot to make the stay enjoyable. Amazing homemade food prepared by the owner - full Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner – which we could not finish as there was too much food.
Location is amazing – with the view at lake. You can hear and see a lot of animals, peacocks, lizards, squirrels, variety of beards – you hear all jungle’s voices. The best place for visit around including Elephants Transit Home and Udawalawe National Park. You can use bicycles for free which is amazing way to see around. Highly recommended!
