I loved the setting of this property a lot!! Places to enjoy and rest, friendly cat and dogs! The pool was clean and nice! You have a place to park your car. The room has everything you need. We stayed in the room with the Garden view (101). I liked from their menu the garlic chicken with rice.
The only small problem was that in the morning when two people took a shower, the hot water was barely enough for one person. We had this problem both mornings we stayed there. Other rooms where my family stayed (pool view) didn't have this problem.

We stayed in a luxury tent, number 25. NEVER stay there! You can hear a road and we had the feeling that we love by the highway... And the worst was at night: there was a huge party nearby with a very noisy music and it was impossible to sleep even with earplugs!

Great hotel- we had a lovely stay there. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Safari was great- we had an afternoon and morning one which we booked a couple of days before via WhatsApp. Most drives are private (we wouldn't have minded sharing, if anything to decrease the traffic and queue to the park) but it was great. You get a driver and guide (and tip both). Not much around the hotel, but a 10 min walk to a local bar where we ate on the second night, and walked back. Perfectly safe, but I'd take a torch. Room was spacious and clean, not many mosquitoes. Nice dog and cat are part of the family there- it's great to see hotels and bars looking after resident pets. Pool was lovely too! Clean, and we spotted monitor lizards, parrots and monkeys from the sunbed!
Food could have been better but as long as you go, not expecting fine dining, you are fine. We had Sri Lankan curry for dinner (and brekkie) and they were super tasty. Coffee for brekkie came in a big pot which was great, and fresh juices.

We came here for a few days to take a safari, and the hotel was a great place to hang out in the downtime. Pool was lovely, staff were great.
The room had an amazing view and was incredibly spacious.

Eliyanth Udawalawe is a genuinely lovely place and, overall, we had a very good experience. The grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained and create a calm, relaxed atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The design and decoration throughout the property are tasteful and full of character, blending nicely with the natural surroundings. Our cottage was absolutely charming—cozy, well laid out, and felt perfect for a family stay. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is one of its biggest strengths. It feels warm, welcoming, and very family-friendly. The pool area is attractive and a great space for both adults and kids to enjoy, and the food deserves a special mention: meals were genuinely good, well prepared, and enjoyable, which adds a lot to the experience when traveling with family. The staff are friendly and kind, always smiling and doing their best to help. The hotel manager in particular stands out as a true gentleman—very approachable, open to feedback, and genuinely committed to making guests feel comfortable and heard. That attitude creates a positive and trusting environment.
Eliyanth Udawalawe is a very charming place with a lot going for it. The grounds and gardens are lovely, the decoration is beautiful, and our cottage was absolutely cute. The pool itself is very nice and inviting, and the staff are genuinely friendly. A special mention to the hotel manager, a true gentleman: always approachable, open to feedback, and sincerely willing to help, which makes a big difference.

A very tranquil property right in nature. Spacious rooms nicely equipped, comfortable beds. The view from the room was great with lots of bird and money watching. I recommend booking a room with the river view for that. Pool was refreshing and clean. Staff were very friendly and polite.
Cleanliness was lacking specifically in the bathroom area, for example it was evident that the bar of soap provided was reused from previous stay. Found garbage behind the sink. Maintenance in rooms is needed, some cupboard doors are falling off, no handle on the balcony door from outside so hard to open. While food in general was good, each meal there was something they didn’t have. Despite this I still found the property very nice, it just needs some proper management.

Poor
I visited this property with my family. Right from the welcome till the exit from the property, it was not a great experience. We checkin in the evening after a long safari and there was barely any light in the property. The staff was confused and left us perplexed. They gave us the room, which is not well lit. The vegetarian food options are very poor, and the staff is not prepared to attend the guests. The place offers bread and jam as a main course breakfast. It felt as if they didn't want to host. The beds are bad and creaky. Ended up with a bad backache. There are many other better places to stay in udawalawe, please check out.

Loved the view of the river and kingfisher from the room, fireflies at night, clean facilities, pool, and the safari tour organised by the hotel was a highlight of our trip. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the facilities. The staff were also very helpful in addressing any issues or questions we had. Perfect place for couples visiting udawalawe

Wonderful
Room was very big, with a private balcony over the creek. A/c worked well, as did the wifi. It was very nice to relax in the pool, and the hotel provided pool towels as well. The hotel organised our safari at a good price. The breakfast had a few options to pick from, including sri lankan. There were lots of string hoppers with a selection of condiments.
The short dirt road to the hotel was a bit muddy, making it harder for cars to get in. We had to walk the final 500m because our driver did not want to brave it.

The reservation manager wanted me to book through booking.com as agent rates are higher than the booking.com rates as they never offered a better rate.( difference was about USD 30 ) Booking.com has a provision to book for on behalf of someone else. 3 bookings were done, and all of a sudden, they wanted me to cancel, and they insisted the payment be paid by the client. With all difficulties, convinced the client to make the payment, and subsequently, the client was reimbursed by me.owner is a high headed guy, and the reservation manager does not know how to speak in a respectful manner. Not happy with this negative attitude .

The rooms are beautiful and the pool area and restaurant is very nice as well. The place is very quiet and peaceful. Booked the safari through the hotel and it was great, the staff were super friendly and professional.
The food at the restaurant and the breakfast can be improved a lot. Especially the breakfast needs an upgrade. Since the food was not great at the hotel, we went to a restaurant called Garlic close to the hotel. Super casual and nice place to eat.
