I like swimpool and calm environment.
Bathroom is not clean and bad smell. Customer service unsatisfied. More improve customer service. Some fridge and kettle not working. tea bag is bad taste. Familyroom not enough tea bag and milk packet.

Beautiful situation next to river with many trees and many birds. Helpful staff, good food.
In the 3 family rooms the windows had opaque glass that you cannot see through. Until you replace them with transparent glass you cannot expect Western tourists to stay there.
In one of the 2 double rooms the aircon did not work. So all in all only 1 of the 5 rooms was usable.

Nice swimming pool to relax in, good value for money and pleasant natural setting among the trees.
The room was rather basic with some of the furniture damaged/not useable. The outside shower and bathroom while giving a natural feel and charm to the place was let down by there being no hot water.

Absolutely wonderful!! The food, the grounds and the staff were all way above expectation. It was the best food we had in Sri Lanka. We felt really lucky to be able to stay and didn’t want to leave. We also booked two safaris through the hotel both were awesome the driver they arranged went above and beyond to make sure we saw all the animals we could.

This place is so quiet and lovely, you have your own terrace and look at the river, the pool is very nice too (maybe not that clean, but clean enough :D). We really enjoyed our stay there, for the price it is awesome! The food was very good too, big portions and very tasty.
For two people the room was a good size (2 double beds), but for four people there might be few space...
Be aware of the dogs at night and close the gate if you don't want them on your terrace.
We also booked our safari with the hotel, it was the cheapest we found and pretty good: 60$ for 6 hours and two people, excluding the entry for the national park.
So we can recommend that place for a relaxing time and bird watching, we enjoyed it over there!
In the end there were some costs we didn't know about, like a service fee, but it wasn't that much. Maybe just make sure in the beginning what you have to pay additionaly (like water bottles)

I couldn't fault Birds Paradise Inn. It was conveniently close to Udawala National Park for the safari. Really friendly staff, nice comfortable room, nice food and a swimming pool for the kids to play in and entertain themselves. We only stayed the one night but it was perfect for what we needed.

The pictures you see on booking are very old and rooms are a bit rundown. But the worst thing is the very dirty. The light in the room was very uncomfortable as normal lights didn’t have lightbulbs.
Then the wifi. No wifi in the rooms and didn’t really work properly even in the common area!
We had dinner at this place. AWFUL! My boyfriend ordered tandoori chicken and it was simply fried chicken. I had chicken masala and it was Sri Lankan curry but very bad. Small amount of chicken, too salty. On top of that my rice wasn’t fresh and smelled bad.
Location isn’t nice. You just have to eat at the place, the lake is close but nothing to see really. I would recommend staying in the town.
We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but changed our reservation and stayed only 1 night and it was the best decision.

We had an excellent stay. We are a family with 3 small children. We asked to arranged us a transfer from Ella to the accommodation and we got a lovely driver, he arrived on time, we highly recommend him and he also drove us to the next destination. We could just trust him for a safe trip and it was an excellent Van with air conditioning and room for all our things.
The place arranged us a safari tour with the guide name Lasa. The owner of the place prepared an excellent meal for us for breakfast so that we could eat at the safari, a large and delicious breakfast.
The guide Lasa was really nice, helped with everything, explained everything, made us a really good and fun experience with the kids in the safari. We highly recommend to take him.
The restaurant in the hotel is tasty, we had both breakfast and lunch and everything was delicious. Everyone is so nice and helped with everything. Highly recommend to come for hospitality
