I liked the location its a little bit further from the city centre but you have an amazing view from the garden. The host were very friendly and helpfull. You can arrange taxi, safari and many other things from the hotel, the food was great and relatively cheap. They also have drinks and the owner likes to play arround with Instruments so if your a musician mabey this place is extra nice for you. All in all I was very satisfied with my stay I can only recommend.?

The lake next to it is like a movie and the cabana was very clean and lovely. Recommend!

Beuatiful place with amazing view over the lake. Lovely house with very nice owner who cooked lunch and diner for us, both delicious! Also the property is relly nice, witb beautiful plants and flowers, really teopical! And the 3 dogs were so cute!

We stayed in the lakeside cabana, the views were amazing! The room had everything you needed in it and was comfortable. The family (and the dogs) were simply amazing! The dad picked us up from our hotel in Ella for a really good price and on the way back did little stops and spoke to us about the area and the animals. We booked the safari through the hotel and that was one of the best days of the whole holiday, Indu the driver was great at his job and the food provided by the hotel for the whole day was delicious! We saw everything, including two leopards and Indu was very knowledgeable. We stayed over the Sri Lanka new year and we were invited to join in the family festivities with the extended family and joined the feast! Again... delicious! What a place to stay, couldn't recommend it more!

Very nice and quiet area, close to nature, great lake view. Really cute cabanas, we really enjoyed relaxing in front of our small tree house. Very friendly and welcoming hosts, delicious dinner.
A lot of mosquitoes and bugs due the lake nearby, no "real" windows, only a mosquito net above the bed, so bring mosquito spray with you.
Unfortunately quite muddy water, so taking a shower wasn't the best experience.
Booking a safari was not worthed for us, because there were way too many jeeps in the national park and we didn't see a lot of animals, which is a pity for the price we paid.

Genuinely the best home stay I have ever stayed at! Where to start!??! First of all, the family are some of the nicest people I have ever met, and will literally do anything for you. The dad (sorry I forgot his name??) took me around the village on his scooter and showed me around, we ended up stopping off to play cricket with the locals which was just incredible. The son of the family is such a sweet boy and loves to play football and badminton with you. He’s a funny character and definitely makes the experience so much better! There was a beautiful feel to this family and they wanted to include you in everything. The food they offer was fresh and amazing! The actual room is basic, but has everything you need! It overlooks a beautiful lake where you can catch an outstanding sunrise. You 100% need to book the safari with the homestay as we did and was the best experience ever! We saw 2 leopards which I understand is not common, but it’s all thanks to the guide, we were there really early to beat the crowds and it 100% paid off. The driver was so knowledgeable and tried his best to make us have the best time. The safari name is spotting trails. This experience is one of my best whilst traveling and for the price, it’s insane as it’s really affordable. I will 100% be returning!

The location was lovely, it was a very quiet place on the lakeside, except for the array of bird life which made for a wondrous dawn awakening.
The lady who ran the place was very helpful and accommodating, and gave service with a smile.

We have been before and loved it so much we came back! The lakeside cabana is a wonderful place to stay with views directly over the lake through which swim water buffalo, egrets sitting high on their backs, hitching a ride. You can walk around the lakes and , if lucky, spot the odd crocodile. Great place for bird watching. The dawn chorus is a wondrous cacophony I shall never forget. The local food was cooked in front of us on outside stoves. The family are so kind and helpful too. Thank you to them all.

Wonderful
Very beautiful location, peaceful and beautiful by a lake with lots of wildlife. A room in a tree house is very special and quite unusual. The room doesn't have air-conditioning but the fans and mosquito net were fine and I slept very well there.

Recommend local guide and TuKtuk driver Denzil who is very knowledgeable about the area. After I left he took me to Ella via the amazing Buddhas carved into the rocks and the spectacular waterfall at Diyaluma.
It has a kettle and hot shower.
There are two friendly dogs which give the place a homely feel. There are peacocks nesting up in the trees making an interesting cry.
Not much really.
Nowhere to put clothes though not a big problem.
The trip to Yala was good, well organised, good driver and guide, but talking to other people, it was quite expensive.

Amazing tree house cabana at a lakeside - stunning views and nature sounds, great garden with fresh coconuts. Comfy room with warm water, clean and well maintained. Amazingly friendly owners, and the loveliest dogs living there. Relax at it’s finest! Can’t miss this place!

This is our second stay at Lakeside Cabana. We liked it so much last time, we decided to return. The cabana overlooking the lake is wonderful! You can see many birds and hear their songs, especially at dawn. The owners are so nice and the food was also delicious.

My suggestion is to do your own research before go to Safari with recommended guide. Our experience was pretty poor. But anyway, hosts did their best to find us a guide :-)

What a special place and special people. They do everything to make it as perfect as it can be. Cook fresh (and a lot) good breakfast , fresh fruit.

Really lovely staff who waited for us as we arrived late after a long travel day. Lovely communal space and the rooms are bug and spacious, with a lot of your own private space to enjoy. The food is good too. Lovely service all round - helped us with tuk tuks and buses also. The dogs are very sweet and cuddly as a bonus.
