We had a wonderful stay here, we would definitely stay again if we return to Yala. The room was spacious and clean, A/C worked perfectly, bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for us, away from the busy-ness of the city and very quiet. Great view of the lake. The property itself is beautiful, with many trees, plants, and flowers around the yard. The best part is the owner, who is so kind and helpful. He was happy to talk to us about the plants of Sri Lanka and answer our questions about some of the culture. And he made us delicious food for breakfast and dinner!

The Lake Near Yala is a beautiful place with just 2 rooms to stay at a private property. Newly constructed and very well done with nice big rooms and bathroom. Neat and clean. The location is a bit inside the by lanes away from the city, but once you are in the property, it is mesmerizing. With coconut trees around, lake in the front, nice sitting area just outside your room and & under the coconut trees, the ambience is truly superb. One can enjoy the nature just sitting there. Breakfast is just basic - eggs, bread butter jam, tea / coffee and some banana.
The owner himself does everything. No additional help available. Only negative point is he charges for the drinking water unlike other places that we stayed at.

Nice clean rooms. The location was not what we expected, not walking distance to anything and felt very isolated because there's only two rooms at this accomodation so there was no atmosphere at all. The walkway down to our room from the road was also very dark and a bit difficult to navigate through a garden. The owner charged us for the water he gave us alongside the breakfast that was included but didn't tell us it would cost extra until the end. His English wasn't very good so it made it difficult to organize things with him.

The host was very nice, welcomed us with fresh pineapple juice, the room was clean, and the view was beautiful.were even saw a peacock in the garden. We recommend you to visit.

This hotel is perfect for staying to make Safari in Yala. The room is very clean, the owner is very caring, helpful and kind. He arranged private safari tour for us for reasonable price and we saw leopard. He also arranged few transfers for us. Breakfast was also very good. The atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful, we liked everything! Highly recommend

Amit is a lovely host with a stunning home to match. We can’t fault the cleanliness and comfort of the room we stayed in, not to mention his generous and hospitable personality. Amit greeted us with welcome beverages and arranged a private tour to Yala park with a packed breakfast. We chose to stay with Amit as his home is within close proximity to the safari park. After our safari morning, Amit organised a taxi for us to transport onto our next location. We wish we could have stayed longer! We would strongly recommend staying with Amit :)

A fantastic honeymoon stay, the owner is friendly has a lot of hospitality, he prepared us food and also booked a private jeep trip into the national park. The location is right next to the lake, it is a very private.
We were shocked to find a huge (7cm) cockroach in the bathroom. The owner helped us to take it out. Later that night we find another one, it was super stressful.

The owner is super friendly and goes further in other to help.
On the day we arrived there was a huge rain flooding the streets and creating a black out in some areas. Our place had that problem and he stayed up until 3am trying to solve it, which he did.
Also the breakfast was amazing: egg hoppers, Dal and coconut roti.
The rooms are great also and the place looks beautiful by the lake. It looks just like in the pictures.

We had a great time at Lake Near. The owner was super helpful and kind. He prepared us the breakfast "to go" before 5 am as we had planed safari in Yala National Park.

it is a cozy place with lake view , good for short stay
the owner was helpful for safari arrangement
room was spacious
there is nothing to do in the hotel . not too many facilities
a little far from center and there is no restaurant or market close
not very clean linen. full of mosquitos .
I edit my review after I see the owner reply . we asked for safari help before I arrive but as his offer was not the best offer I canceled it a few days earlier. after all it is the costumer choice to choose a service or not . we did not need restaurant as we only stayed during the night , but in day we explored the area and when I am writing a review I should mention all the things we saw and that was that point that there are not any decent restaurant around
Finally the manner of the owner is obvious from his answer to my review , it is obvious that he is rude and not into this business for a long time as he does not know how to behave a guess. we were in Sri lanka for 12 days and explored 6 cities and hotels and it was our worst experience in that hotel

Amith (the owner) was so helpful even before we arrived in Sri Lanka, asking if he could arrange transport or a safari for us. He made sure we had the perfect trip to Yala National Park with a comfortable jeep and nice driver, everything was arranged for us! The hotel is located just a 5 minute tuktuk drive from Tissamaharama and the place is very quiet and neat. It has a beautiful garden right next to the lake. Amith will do anything to make sure you are 100% happy at his place. He made us a small lunch when we arrived (right before our safari) and the Sri Lankan breakfast in the garden was delicious as well (though way more food than we could eat :)) Totally recommend this place if you're looking for a relaxing place to stay outside the busy town center!
Some ants and a cockroach (which we released outside) in the room, but that's nature :)

What a beautiful room, we felt like we were in paradise! The garden and the lake view are fantastic. The host is one of a kind; and the food was so so good! Mr. Amith organised a great safari for us. Lake Near is the perfect location for a safari at Yala National Park.

Clean and comfortable room for a fair price. Nice and helpful host. He organized a really good safari for us and made us a great breakfast package togo in the early morning.
The host billed drinks and desserts that we should "try out" but didn't order so that we paid much extra.
