Everything, right from the property, room, location, surroundings, cleanliness to a very friendly staff.
Our stay at Oliphant Boutique Villa by Amaya was nothing short of magical. The photos online simply do not do justice to how stunning the property is in reality—the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful surroundings, the lush gardens, and that charming old-world elegance seamlessly blended with all modern comforts.
Despite delays in our check-in due to heavy rains, the staff were patiently waiting for us with warm smiles. From the very first moment, they made sure we felt comfortable and welcomed. Every member of the team was humble, polite, and incredibly respectful.
A special shoutout to Laxman, who took care of us throughout our stay. His attentiveness and kindness truly made a difference. We also travelled with our 5-year-old, who is quite picky with food, yet the kitchen staff went out of their way to prepare dishes he would enjoy. This level of personal care was deeply appreciated.
The food was exceptional—far beyond our expectations. I strongly recommend opting for half board or full board, because every meal was a delight.
We stayed for four days and honestly wished we had booked even more. Oliphant was the standout stay of our entire Sri Lanka trip. The peaceful atmosphere, stunning views, lovely heritage charm, and world-class hospitality make it a place we would return to without a second thought.
Highly recommended to anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya—Oliphant Boutique Villa is an experience you won’t forget!
Nothing.

Relaxing & comfortable stay with AMAZING food. Seriously. Best food I’ve ever had from a hotel/villa. The staff was super attentive and kind. Also, beautiful location and garden. I loved just sitting outside and taking in the scenery.
It’s a little drive from the town centre but it’s worth it to stay at such a nice place.

Pleasant
Old colonial bungalow with an attractive garden . Very comfortable and clean room.
There was no information available or given by the staff about the history of the bungalow and tea plantation or how to access local attractions.
Having arrived in the rain from Nanu Oya station we asked if lunch was available but after waiting over half and hour we gave up and went out to find something locally .
The website stated that they arranged a taxi to pick you up from the station and a car to take you to Horton Plains . However we were left to arrange our own transport.
Drinks menu didn't show the real price . VAT was added after.
The breakfast we were given to take with us on the morning of our trip to Horton Plains was very basis and not up to the standards provided by other places.
Felt isolated and didn't have the experience we had expected of staying in an old tea estate .We didn't have a car or a private driver and we were left to sort out transport etc on our own . This wasn't our experience in all the other hotels we stayed in which is ironic as this was a special treat.
We won't recommended it to other travellers.

Beautiful peaceful location out of town, beside the highest village in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by tea plantations and other small cultivations, and inside the grounds is a perfectly tended garden and very professional welcome from the small team. Short walks available to a viewpoint amongst the tea. Room and bathroom both spacious and as in the photos. Dinner and breakfast both delicious. The banana bread in particular! No problem to order us a taxi to go to the station the next morning too. More expensive than the average accommodation, but certainly value for money compared to other similar high-end “boutique” accommodations in Sri Lanka (which can start at $900 per night - and I’m not sure the extra butler would be worth the difference!)

Very luxurious room, great dinner onsite, spectacular location - just a short walk to a beautiful view of the surrounding tea plantations.
Non alcoholic drinks with dinner were quite expensive.

Our two-night honeymoon stay at Oliphant in Nuwara Eliya was nothing short of magical. This beautifully preserved 1800s property, nestled within a tea plantation, perfectly balances historical elegance with intimate boutique hotel service.
The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, especially during my husband's birthday celebration. They arranged beautiful room decorations and even helped me in surprising my husband with a cake – touches that made the occasion truly special.
The hotel's location is a highlight, offering peaceful morning walks through the surrounding tea plantation. The property's rich heritage is evident in every corner, providing an authentic glimpse into Sri Lanka's colonial past.
Special mention must go to Lakshman, whose attentive service really made our experience special. The entire staff demonstrated professionalism while maintaining a warm, personal approach.
The food was delicious and the chef went out of his way to prepare a beautiful cake for us during our stay!
For those seeking a tranquil retreat in Nuwara Eliya with impeccable service, Oliphant is an outstanding choice. It's perfect for couples wanting an intimate, peaceful escape with personalized attention.

Nestled amidst a serene tea plantation, this hotel in Nuwara Eliya offers a truly unique and picturesque getaway. The beauty of the property is breathtaking, with lush green hills and rows of tea plants stretching as far as the eye can see. You’re surrounded by nature, making it a peaceful escape from city life.
The staff deserves a special mention for their warmth and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed by their friendliness and attentiveness. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, making our stay even more enjoyable.
The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-designed to blend with the natural surroundings, allowing guests to relax and unwind fully. Waking up to views of misty hills and fresh tea plantations was a highlight.
Overall, if you’re looking for a tranquil experience combined with beautiful scenery and exceptional service, this hotel is a perfect choice. Highly recommended for nature lovers and those seeking a relaxing retreat in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country.

Breakfast was amazing. We personally got to meet the chef and the Sri Lankan breakfast was made to order to perfection
Include more options for the Sri Lankan food. We are rich in culture and should encourage more options

Wonderful
- Very nice location and good if you want to have complete calmness and quietness.
- There are some activities on site, which you can do, e.g. badminton, chessboard, walking around in the tea plants. It’s a bit away from the city centre but we did not mind this.
- It’s a rather small hotel with only few rooms. If you prefer to stay more anonymous during your stay, it might not be the right thing for you as the staff is very attentive at all times and tries to give you a very individual treatment.
- The food (we booked half-board) was very good but in comparison to other locations in Sri Lanka a bit pricey.
