Really nice experience for the price. Host was kind and very helpful but also not overbearing and left us to enjoy our stay unless we needed him.
The garden is beautiful and my 3 year old enjoyed running around it whilst I enjoyed the wonderful view of the lake. Front communal reception room is very nice and modern with sofas and big tv. It’s at the quiet end of the lake but an enjoyable walk to the town centre. Good local breakfast was served.
Not lots of restaurants or shops super close by, but just get a quick tuk tuk and enjoy the beautiful view on the way!

The host is the most attentive person. He helped us in all the ways possible: arranged a car for us, lent us a heater as it was cold and rainy… The room and bathroom were very big and spacious: the shower had great hot water. Breakfast is also really nice. Overall a great experience.

The property is someone’s home turned into a small hotel. The property is well-maintained and it has all the amenities needed for a stay. It’s very close to the lake. The staff is exceptional. They prepared such a lovely breakfast for us, we will never forget. Very polite and always ready to serve.

Melford Nuwara Eliya is a beautifully maintained gem right beside the historic sluice gate of Lake Gregory. The architecture and interiors exude classic colonial charm—tastefully designed with elegant wooden floors, strong vintage-style beds, and lovely canopy curtains that echo a bygone era.
Our room was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped. The bathroom had great water pressure, a powerful exhaust fan, and instant hot water—everything worked perfectly. The balcony opened to a serene view of the lake, adding to the peaceful ambiance. A small garden near the reception with chairs on request made for an ideal place to relax in the crisp mountain air.
What truly made our stay unforgettable was the outstanding hospitality. The owner and staff were incredibly polite, warm, and attentive. They were always just a call away—offering tea and coffee generously, letting us use their kitchen, and always welcoming us with genuine smiles. I have stayed in many hotels across Asia, but it is rare to find such sincere and caring service.
Highly recommended for a quiet, comfortable stay with exceptional hospitality.
The only drawbacks were the ongoing construction next to the property, which caused some noise during the day, and the location being slightly away from the town center, making access to shops and restaurants less convenient. However, these were manageable—especially with the help of the owner, who arranged tuk tuks for us when needed, and the option to order food via the PickMe app made things easier.

Owner was super friendly and made us feel right at home immediately. Also very thoughtful to prepare packed breakfast for us as we had to leave early the next day. Room was spacious and comfortable with a good view of the lake. Decor and ambience was lovely too.

Large clean and comfortable room. The beds were the comfiest I’ve had in my whole trip to Srilanka! Had a great nights sleep! Ample hot water for warm showers for all! Friendly owner. Great value for money!! We missed out on the breakfast though since we didn’t inform the previous night. I’ve heard it’s great too!

The hotel is clean, comfortable, has large rooms and has a beautiful view from the room we stayed in. The breakfast was wholesome and tasty and service very good. The approach road is a bit narrow and large vehicles find it a bit difficult to navigate, but that's a minor issue. Would definitely recommend this hotel
