The Langdale is a slice of heaven. True old world charm, in the most beautiful old historic hotel where you feel as if you are a guest in someone's home. Small and understated. The view from the balcony room is unforgettable. A place to enjoy a good cup of tea, looking at the tea plantations that surround you. And you can also see the historic Radella cricket ground from the hotel. My only regret is that I had to come alone on this trip, so couldn't enjoy the beautiful lawn tennis court.

- The service & the hosts - took exceptional care of us and catered to everything and anything we needed
- The venue, the location and the scenery - absolutely breathtaking and very relaxing
- Extra curricular activities offered at the venue (e.g., minigolf, tennis courts etc.) - All free of charge!
Absolutely nothing!

Very peaceful and quiet. Staff are so friendly. Anuj behind the reception was so accommodation and exceptionally helpful.
Bit secluded but if you’re here for peace and quiet then it’s perfect

A beautiful place with stunning views! Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. We visited with our baby, and the staff was very helpful and attentive to our needs. The restaurant and food were excellent. Highly recommended!

Poor
Hotel has a nice garden & views of the tea plantations - but is badly managed & is not in good condition internally. E.g.
Tired bathrooms, holes in the towels & bathrobes, dead flowers for 2 days in room & also on breakfast table (see photo).
Tennis rackets with broken strings
Cleaning of rooms not very thorough.
Soup served at restaurant table with cling film still on from microwave!
Bar is dark & gloomy - with bean bags for seating on the floor (see photo).
Although at altitude - the bedrooms have no air conditioning & are very hot & stuffy.
One of the 2 rooms we booked for our family was very unpleasant and smelt strongly of drains & kitchen smells. The receptionist was unhelpful & uncooperative resolving this issue. It was a lot of trouble changing the room the next day.
Overall a very disappointing hotel & poor value for money.

Absolutely stunning property, it almost felt fairytale like watching the green hills around us while playing minigolf or taking a stroll around the tea plantation. Very very picturesque. We also enjoyed the heated pool and my husband the tennis court. The service was also very good and a la carte breakfast excellent.
The bathroom was a little tired so didn’t feel like 5 stars. It didn’t affect our overall experience though.
We stayed at Langdale as part of our honeymoon and also informed the hotel about it prior. Opposite to other hotels we stayed at where we got a little something, like a cake, decorated bed, candlelit dinner or similar, we didn’t get this here. A little something here would have made a difference.

Pleasant
The location amongst the fields of tea; the dinner was delicious (and served very fast); the staff were very kind
The hotel offers 3 room types on Booking: standard, deluxe and premium. We booked deluxe and were given room 101, a poky room with no privacy, literally next to reception and overlooking the entrance door where cars came and went (their website promises all deluxe rooms “Boast heavenly views”).
In no way did it match the description or the photos, I think it was a standard room. We refused it and the receptionist worked hard to give us a premium room which was bigger and had privacy.
This place needs to be more truthful in its marketing, to invest in the property (the white picket fence the restaurant faces is falling over; the plastic, sloping floor of the enormous shower bath in room 103 wasn’t stable…) and to give their staff a product to be really proud of.

Good
The pool was good and they had crazy golf, badminton and tennis - all equipment provided. The views were to die for and the walk through the tea plantation was really charming. We walked down to Somerset tea factory in the morning and were shown around - great visit and tasted teas. Well worth doing even though we had done one elsewhere
We had a room with a balcony and enjoyed sitting out watching the sun go down.
Not enough pool brolleys and def not enough pool beds! We got burnt a little - mentioned it to the front desk people - and yes they knew it was a problem.
Our usb charge points in the bedroom did not work - mentioned it but I think they had never been connected.
The bar ran out of local beers on the first night but restocked for the next day. The bar only really had seating for 10-12 people which seemed odd - we sat outside but got bitten on my ankles despite insect repellent.
Meals - a lot of European food on the menu which seemed to be what people wanted - it is v like a little England from the colonial days.

Very Good
Breakfast was good . Dining room lacks any atmosphere.
The setting is breathtaking and beautiful walks into the tea plantation
Heated swimming pool and was wonderful !!
The dining room is poor and an ordinary space . Needs windows overlooking the view .
If you can get a table on the conservatory that is a much better area.
Dining room staff were a bit slow and disorganised but the food was good.
