Great location on the beach with a nice restaurant / bar by the Ocean. The pool was large and quiet. The family room we booked was spacious with two single beds and a double. The surrounding area felt safe and it was nice to stroll around to the other restaurants in the evenings. The manager was friendly and helped up with whatever we needed. Food was great and the banana pancakes for breakfast were perfect! We’d stay here again and could have stayed longer.

We had a room on the top of the house with a nice balcony. The street were the hotel is, is very busy but it was not overly noisy. The food and beverage in the restaurant was really good and was not so expansive. The pool was clean and spacious. 200meter from the hotel is a snorceling spot directly in front of the beach and we saw a lot of sea turtles.
The bathroom had a real foul smell. The water kettle did not work. It was the first time in Sri Lanka were the host did‘nt support our further travelling.

Very nice property.. very clean.. delicious breakfast included in price.. right on the beach.. restaurant has excellent views of the ocean.. awesome little swim beach ( including turtles!!) and surfing just a couple of properties down. They have more accommodation rooms just behind the main property across the road with a lovely and very clean pool which offers part shade (a good thing). These rooms have glimpses of the ocean from the balconies. I would prefer ocean front views but those rooms were not available. Make Villa has excellent food and an outstanding Ayurvedic massage centre ( must do). They also advertise bicycle rental.. but there are no bikes. We found a bike rental very close by… a fellow who actually runs a bike shop and we rented very sturdy/well kept bikes for a day. It was also a lot of fun -we gave the rental information to the management-I hope they keep it for future customers.

Super room with balcony with views of pool and sea. Lovely shower. Great location with beach bars, restaurants, scooter hire, shops. Chilled vibe - lots of surfers! Gorgeous pool.
Had the included breakfast - gorgeous smoothie bowl one day and the Sri Lankan choice of string hoppers and Dahl the next - delicious! Plus fruit and tea. All eaten overlooking the beach. Gave us secure parking for our Tuktuk.
Recommend staying - excellent value for the price.
Only minus was our room (No.44) had no blackout curtains or bedside lockers. Very minor. Dogs barking quite a bit but then there are a stray dogs around.

The location of the hotel is absolutely beautiful and 4 nights just wasn’t enough! Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony and views of the sea. AC very efficient and the room and beds comfortable. Very clean, good size bathrooms with good showers.
Breakfast was lovely outside with the sea and beach just feet away. Food was excellent in the restaurant and we ate here every night. I hope the area around here doesn’t get too developed as it feels fairly low-key and unspoilt.
Very much enjoyed the sun loungers by the beach with the hotel’s small beach bar with friendly staff.
Great swimming pool too if you want a change from the beach.

Matara apparently is more for locals so it wasn’t over built or overcrowded, when we travel we prefer nature and tranquility so it was perfect. The beachside location of the hotel, the size of the room, the pool, the restaurant and being able to eat in front of the ocean all day. Friendly and accommodating staff. Close to everything

The best part of the Villa is the sea front restaurant. It's very nice to eat breakfast looking on the sea.
Food is good, but nothing exceptional.
It's not the cleanest place.

A really delightful place to stay. The pool is lovely. The beach is 30 seconds walk. A very beautiful place. The restaurant is veer good. My room had a great veranda and wonderful view.

The staff are so lovely and helpful..
Nice size family room and comfy beds.
The food in the restaurant is really good and it's right on the sea front. We saw a turtle walking up the beach to lay its eggs while we were having dinner one night!
The hotel organised a great fishing trip for us. We brought all the fish we had caught back to the hotel, and the chefs cooked them all for us for our lunch.
