We were a bit dubious when booking this hotel, due to the low price, but it far exceeded our expectations! Some building work going on at the front meant you walked through the carpark to Reception, which was a bit odd. Noise from construction didn't disturb us at all. The room was fresh, clean with good ac, shower, kettle, tv and comfy bed. Big shout out to the member of staff who looked out for us at breakfast. Don't think they had many Westerners staying, so breakfast was 'interesting!'
If you're looking for a place to stay to do the Crocodile Safari, it's perfect, just a short walk. We actually saw a 5m Crocodile on our boat ride, in the river, opposite the hotel!! ?

There are cockroaches in the toilet. Derty linen. The room is not clean properly.The manager did not respond to any, and she asked me to complain if I can.

Great location near public transport, shopping, and attractions. Well-maintained, spacious rooms with stylish decor. The arrival process was easy, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Exceptional service and delicious breakfast provided great value. Overall, an unforgettable stay—I will definitely return!

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff ever, lovely and great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean, stylish, roomy with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my stay.While our stay they make our stay more special.Like arranging Candle Light dinner, boat suffari for Crocodile watching & bird watching in River Nilwala.It was a great experience to us. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Room on the ground floor was nice with patio, convenient bed, mosquito repellent and actually not many mosquitoes in Jan, there was good internet and even TV, restaurant on the territory of the hotel to order food from for reasonable price. Location is quite far from the sea, if you want some walking experience along the roads it will take minimum 20 min. But it’s near river where you can see lizards and crocodiles) In 5-7 min walk Keels supermarket. To the bus station and city center convenient to use buses, they pass quite often. Hotel staff is helpful and friendly. Had nice breakfasts included with care from the restaurant staff)
No hot water which is no problem in hot season but still can be a problem for sensitive people like me)

I recently stayed at Grand Rockland in Matara, Sri Lanka, and it was great. The location is excellent, and the hotel is very well maintained. It’s perfect if you enjoy social and party vibes.
Our room was wonderful, especially the private outdoor garden. The staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. I also liked the antiques displayed around the hotel.
The restaurant offered a range of tasty options, including Sri Lankan, Chinese, and Indian dishes, as well as delicious pastries. The night atmosphere was calm and relaxing.
One of the best parts was the boat ride arranged by the hotel. We saw crocodiles, birds, and beautiful islands in the river. Overall, I had a great stay at Grand Rockland and would definitely recommend it.

I had a fantastic experience at Grand Rockland Hotel. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the room was spotless and comfortable. Perfectly located near major attractions, it’s an ideal spot for both relaxation and exploring the city. With in 2KM radius from Matara Bus stand. Value for the money. Safe parking inside the hotel. Highly recommend!
First day we stayed ground floor near the reception. That was fantastic rooms. On the second day we have move 3rd floor. Those rooms are average. No even TV. But that's not a big deal with the price.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, a perfect retreat from the crowds but not too far from Matara. They have an in-house family restaurant that would serve up different varieties, from Sri Lankan, Chinese, Indian, to other cuisines suited for different tastes.
The staff is very friendly and attentive, making one feel quite at home. The room was very clean, with a very comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. The air conditioning is first class, and further, the room is well-equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a jug kettle, and complimentary water bottles.
The Wi-Fi and TV connections were good and really fast, which added to the overall experience. One unique feature in this hotel is an antique shop, making the stay that much different. We would therefore highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a comfortable and enjoyable family vacation.
