Soon after we booked the place, the host called and informed us that even if the booking showed “breakfast included,” they do not provide breakfast to guests. When I asked, “Aren’t we guests?”, he clarified that it was only for foreigners. This clearly shows discrimination and a lack of welcome towards local guests.
After checking Google reviews, I noticed that the host has treated locals the same way on multiple occasions.
Fortunately, we found a lovely place nearby called Yala Vista. The host there was amazing, so we cancelled this booking and stayed at Yala Vista instead. It turned out to be a wonderful experience, and we’re very glad we cancelled Shine Park in time and avoided dealing with a discriminatory host.

It was a nice place to stay as a base to do the safari to Yala . We did a full day safari with the guest house and it was lovely .

Lovely family. Very good breakfast. We were able to book a safari which was excellent. We loved our stay, and we were looked after very well Rooms are spacious and clean. The owner is very kind and helpful.

We stayed at Shine Park with the whole family and booked two rooms. The rooms were spacious and adequate for our needs. Breakfast was excellent, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It looks like some renovations are in progress, and once completed the place will be even better. The owner also has a safari jeep and offers tours to Yala, which is very convenient. For the money we spent, the service and overall experience were excellent.

The location is good for a yala safari.
The listed amenities are lies. There is no bicycle.There is no restaurant. You have to fight to get the wifi turned on. The staff told us that its too expensive for them to provide wifi. Then they shouldn't list it. We had to ask multiple times befoe they agreed to turn it on. We checked in late in the afternoon and were told that there is no food at the hotel. The next day I asked about renting a bicycle and was told that there is none. I was told that there is a shop 500 meters up the road that rents bikes. Never found it. The ac also barely works. It turns itself off every 30 minutes like its on a timer. I couldn't find a way to make it stay on. The room is clean but run down.

Everything was great and hosts were super helpful. The room was big and had a nice terrace.
The ceiling of the room need some repair, as some stuff is falling from there.

We stayed for one night to do the morning safari and it was absolutely fine for that time. It is nothing special but overall clean with air conditioning etc.
The host arranged us a safari trip for a good price so it was all very easy and effortless. If you plan on only staying for one/two nights to do the safari I would recommend it.
It was quite loud at night tho and you could see the lights through the door and the windows.

I’ve find it hard to leave, originally I’ve booked 2 nights and stayed 4.
The room was clean, ac worked perfectly and the staff were so friendly, helped me with everything I needed.
I’ve booked all my safari with the hotel, and every day in the park I’ve seen at least one leopard and a bear. So knowledgeable and experienced.
Sometimes the WiFi didn’t worked but it worked again after a minute

The hosts are very responsive, the rooms are good value for money. My AC worked well, there's a bench in-room to lay out your things, and a spacious balcony outside.
At checkout, I paid in cash and noticed the hosts withheld 1,000 LKR. When I counted the change and hesitated, they exchanged glances and returned the missing amount without me saying a word. It seemed like a habitual practice.
Additionally, unlike listed here, breakfast was NOT provided when asked. They said the morning safari should have covered it although I didn't book my safari with them, and got back to the place at 11am.

Janaka and Sagrita are the best, always kind and helpful. The room was clean and Sagrita cooked delicious vegetarian food. I booked a safari with Janaka and l enjoyed a lot, we saw many animals and a leopard crossed the road in front of us, Janaka was really fast to stay close to him! I really recommend to book to Shine Park not only for the night but also for safari. Thank you ?

We had a great stay at Shine Park.
The owners took good care of us. We could order dinner and breakfast and they did our laundry.
We also went on Safari and I can tell you it was awesome. We saw elephants and even the leopard beside all the other great animals. The husband made sure to provide a good experience for our little group of three and he didn't disappoint. We even got breakfast and lunch included and it was delicious.
The Safari was great value for money. We did the full day tour and it was totally worth it. We saw a majority of animals in the afternoon and it's a bit less crowded. It's a long day in the car but you get a 2 hour lunch break and water if needed. I'm glad we booked the whole day.
We also stopped for small animals and our driver took time to explain.

Its a nice big property with a beautiful garden. The room was spacious and bed was comfortable
It’s a bit far from the centre of Tissa but it had some food options around as the accommodation doesn’t offer lunch or dinner. The lady was very concerned about me using the aircon and told me twice to leave it off everytime I wasn’t in the room (which I would do even if not told). On the last day we had arranged breakfast at 9am but she came knock on my door at 7:45 to make it earlier, Im unsure why. Also breakfast was only a few slices of bread, jam, butter and 1 egg (pretty poor compared to all other places I stayed in SriLanka)

I stayed two nights and went on a tour to Yala National Park together with our host. It was one of the best days of my whole trip! We saw so many animals including the leopard, elephants and crocodiles. The sloth bear even came to discover our jeep, what an encounter! Our host provided us with much information about the species and took really care that we had good views all the time. We often found ourselves far away from other jeeps which was lovely. If I go there I would totally do that trip again!
