Exceptional
The hotel was in a quiet location, protected from everything going on around it. The hotel staff were literally the best of the whole trip. We did the safari and the staff got up and made us lunch to give us at 5 AM. They made sure we were taken care of at every turn, even brought us a ball to play with in the pool. The food at the hotel was really good too, definitely try eating there.

The hotel was clean and well maintained despite it looking a little aged. The pool was big and we enjoyed swimming in it. The surroundings had many trees and plants which were well groomed - and brought a serene environment to the hotel.
We had quite a struggle trying to contact the hotel prior to our arrival as we needed to make some changes. However, the staff who attended the call could not understand the situation, and were unable to assist us. We called Booking.com for assistance - but due to certain policies, were also unable to assist us. Ideally, the staff in charge should have a thorough understanding of the Booking.com process, including any necessary workarounds, to ensure smooth operations. This costed us a lot of our time attending and contacting Booking.com - which was unpleasant. Other than that, the stay was okay.

Very bad experience – Rude staff and poor service
We booked a room at Nilketha Tissamaharama through Booking.com for the night of April 14. To be sure, I even called the hotel on April 13 to confirm, and they said that bookings made through Booking.com are confirmed and there is no problem.
However, when we traveled all the way from Colombo and arrived at the hotel, the receptionist rudely told us that we had to pay in advance, even though it was not mentioned anywhere on Booking.com or during the phone call. Then they claimed they couldn’t find our booking on their system.
When we explained what was said to us on the phone, the receptionist started shouting at us instead of helping. They even called another boy who checked the phone and found our booking, but the receptionist still said there was no booking under our name. The boy confirmed it was there, but they blamed him for not writing it in the book.
Even after we proved that we had a valid booking, the receptionist refused to give us the room. He was extremely disrespectful and even tried to hit one of us. This is completely unacceptable behavior.
We were treated very badly and had to find another place to stay at the last minute. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. They do not respect their customers and clearly have no proper management.

Spacious accommodation, short walk to the Main Street, fine for us for one night for going to Yala Safari. Our room was older than the photos and shower was ok. Good aircon and staff were very helpful.
Not much around for tourists in the town, only a base for Yala

The location was good for the National parks and the garden setting pleasant. We were disappointed that there was a problem with the pool so the water was too murky to swim in. The hotel is ok, but a bit down at heel. We didn’t have any hot water in the shower either.

Very very close to the town where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The owner even gave us a lift to a restaurant he recommended one of the nights.
We were getting a late taxi and let us stay poolside for the day whilst waiting for this.
He offers a private Safari service too which unfortunately we didn’t use but had we known he did this service we would have.

Wonderful stay!! Spacious, super clean room (high ceilings and big room)....the grounds are gorgeous, ample common areas, and the staff were very kind. The restaurant was a great value and super convenient!! Definitely a wonderful place to stay!!
Only a small knock bc the laundry was quite expensive (even by USA standards) and not cleaned (or dried) to my expectations for the price

Pleasant
The setting, gardens and pool were very beautiful (although the tiles around the pool were dangerously slippery). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent.
There were major issues with the water to our room, in that more often than not we had NO water or just a trickle from the basin tap. We had sporadic hot water when the water did flow. This made our Yala safari trip difficult as we had a long day with a very early start and late finish. The staff did try to fix the issue, but the results were only temporary, and the problem persisted throughout our two-night stay. Also, the restaurant times were inconsistent, not being open when expected and many items offered on the menu were unavailable.

Accommodation was okay, toilet very bad, water pressure weak. Pool is great, clean and good temperature water.
The host at the reception is very pleasant, however the elderly man for whom they said is the owner kept coming to us with tasteless jokes and does not know personal space.
They organized a safari to Yala National Park for us. It cost us $70 per person. The park is beautiful, but we were not satisfied with the driver.
