Lovely homestay located on the banks of the Mahaweli river. Lovely to be surrounded by nature and watch the numerous birds, monkeys and squirrels that live here. Great outdoor space if you just want to take it easy for a day.
Nice and clean room with AC and mosquito net. Warm water and good water pressure. And finally a bathroom with a shower curtain so you’re not constantly getting wet feet when entering the bathroom.
Lovely breakfast and upon request dinner can be ordered too. Sweetest hosts who speak English very well and are willing and able to help you plan for outings while staying with them. Very kind and caring for my almost two year old daughter. Highly recommend this place to each and everyone.
The only thing I was missing during our stay were some hooks to hang up stuff and maybe a longer or extra towel rack. The one that’s there now only properly fits one towel. But this didn’t in any affect our stay.

Beautiful location in 15 minutes from Kandy.
Nice and clean apartment, recommend it to everyone. You can make barbecue, if you have charcoal

I had a wonderful stay at Mahaweli Shades. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making check-in a breeze. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed. The location was perfect and the on-site facilities were great. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time. The owners are incredibly kind, caring and helpful.
I strongly recommend Priyangi's home-made food: looking back, these were the best meals we had in Sri Lanka.
The location is perfect if you wish to explore The Knuckles range.
There was no wifi.
