Mahesh was so friendly and always available to offer advice, tips for Kandy and insight into his life. The ensuite room was spacious and the direct access to the balcony/outside space was a plus.
Breakfast could have been more generous with more Sri Lankan specialities.

We had an incredible stay with Mahesh—an easy 10/10! Although we only spent one night in Kandy, we truly wished we had stayed longer. From the moment we arrived at Dreamscape Homestay, Mahesh and his parents welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. We were offered tea and biscuits on arrival, and spent some time chatting and exchanging stories about our lives.
Mahesh provided us with a helpful booklet of itinerary options at very reasonable prices. We chose to take advantage of his services to explore some of the main landmarks in the city, which was a great decision.
One of the highlights of our stay was the cooking class with Mahesh and his parents. Together, we prepared three delicious curries and sambol—it was an unforgettable and authentic experience.
We’re already looking forward to returning to Kandy, and there’s no doubt we’ll be staying here again. Thank you so much for everything, Mahesh. We truly appreciate your hospitality. Wishing you, your wife, and your growing family all the very best!

I had a wonderful stay at Mahesh’s homestay in Kandy! The highlight was definitely the beautiful balcony with an amazing view — perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Every morning, Mahesh served a delicious breakfast, freshly prepared and full of flavor, which made the stay even more special. He was a kind and welcoming host, always ready to help with anything I needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Kandy!

Standard Backpackers Guesthouse! It is about 30 minutes from the train station, by foot. 15 minutes by tuk tuk. It might be a bit difficult to walk around on a rainy day. The owner was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was very simple but he did his best!

We absolutely loved our experience at Kandy Dreamscape Homestay. Mahesh and his family were excellent hosts and very welcoming. The room was great value for money, room is on the top floor and you also get access to a lounge area. Wi-fi worked well. Highly recommend having dinner there, we loved seeing how traditional rice and curry is made at home and was a highlight of our experience in Sri Lanka. Great view over Kandy also from the balcony.
Nothing, location was a little bit away from the main attractions but not too far to walk (about 15 minutes) and we enjoyed being away from the busyness of the town.

Beautiful location, only a 20 minute walk from Kandy lake (via the steps) with stunning views of Knuckles Mountains. The hosts were so kind and helpful and went out of their way to make my stay pleasant and comfortable. This was my 1st experience of a homestay accommodation and I was very pleased.

Reading reviews we were expecting a little bit more. Probably the excellent reviews were referring to the bigger room, the ‘budget’ one wasn’t so amazing, quite small and noisy. Breakfast is basic

The breakfast was excellent, and different each of the six days I was here. The guests chose the breakfast times. It was unusually hot (for me, a northerner), but the big floor fan helped heaps. A good subway/wrap shop popular with the locals just around the corner, and some tonier places down the road (e.g., the rooftop Kurunbunkz with the view). The hosts were unfailingly gracious and authentically smiling and helpful.
Some street noise and the heat, although it was unusually hot outside, and you'd pay quite a bit more for air conditioning.

I felt like home, the house is really nice and people lovely. We cooked together and it was delicious ! They helped me with everything and even prepared a take away breakfast for me when I had to take the train. I recommend this place 100% :)

We had a wonderful stay at dreamscape home stay! Unlike other homestays, you are actually staying with the family and we even cooked with them in the evening, using ingredients from their garden. They are super kind, the room is clean and the view was incredible (we recommend waking up at 6am to see the sunrise from the balcony). They also offer many acitivities and are super transparent about the prices. We wished we would’ve stayed a little longer. Kandy is really beautiful!!

Such a great experience! The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, offering tea as soon as we arrived. They helped us get a fair price for a tour and even solved our SIM card problem with ease. The bed was super comfortable, and there was always hot water. Honestly, they are some of the nicest people we’ve met ; warm, helpful, and caring. Thank you for everything✨

Warmly welcomed by whole family. Host was very helpful, spoke good English. Mosquito net & clean sheets. Location good if fit, can walk to Temple of Sacred Tooth, old town area
Due to heavy rain all day, I was cold at night, small blanket not enough. Woke @5 am to screaming stray cats !

Place where they really do care about you. They help you with all the services you need, prepare you lunch or diner + the view from the balcony was ?
It is close to the main road so you can hear the cars and sometimes hot water didn’t work but that’s like everywhere in Sri Lanka?

We had a lovely stay here. Our highlight was the dinner that the family cooked "with" us, they showed us how to cook Curries and Dhal and everything came fresh out of the garden. They even had handmade coconut milk, which blowed my mind. The host was extremely friendly and helped us with every question we had. We would highly recommend staying here and spend some time with this lovely family :)
