Booked here very last minute after another booking fell through. I arrived late in the evening, so only a very brief visit, but the room was simple but spacious and had everything I needed. The breakfast was nice and served outside on the terrace in the morning.
As with many places I stayed in Sri Lanka, bedding was minimal but I had a silk liner which did the job!

This accommodation is perfect if you are looking for a calm place close to the city, but not in the businesses of the city. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We wished we were able to extend but we already booked our train ticket. Highly recommended, if you are looking for a peaceful getaway from the city. The family was very kind and so helpful. All in all, great stay and value for your money.

Anniewatte House is situated in the hilly parts of Kandy. This means there is a big climb to get there from the train station or the city center, but while some tuk-tuks struggle to climb, they eventually manage to reach. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet, perfect to rest, although there is not a lot to do around as it is mostly a residential area.
We really enjoyed the big room and comfortable beds. Everything was functioning well and we didn't have any issue. There was a nice smell in the room when we reached.
The place is run by the family next door, and they were all very kind to us, even when we came a bit late to request some drinking water. They prepared a delicious breakfast, with toasts, eggs, butter and jam, fruits and tea or coffee. The breakfast was big enough for us to skip lunch!
As it's a bit remote, it's sometimes a bit hard to get a tuk-tuk or a car, but we usually got one in 5-15 minutes (with the PickMe app, but you can also stand on the side of the road). Some drivers may ask extra because they have to climb all the way.
If you plan to leave in the morning and come back after dinner, the remote location is really not an issue.

My stay at Anniewatte House was very nice. My room was clean, spacious and functional. When I asked for a Sri Lankan breakfast I got the most delicious breakfasts served on the patio outside my room. The location was quiet and in a nice neighbourhood. I walked downtown every time but it is a bit far. However you can always go by Tuktuk. There is a big supermarket nearby. The family was very friendly and helpful. They also gave me a plate and knife when I asked for it.

First of all excellent hospitality people who book a stay in Kandy should book to this place just to experience the amazing hospitality of the people in this place. Other than that the room was very clean and spacious with comfortable bed, also good location in a quiet area around 5 mins by tuk tuk to center. Overall the stay was amazing and would suggest this place to anyone going to Kandy.
Maybe the breakfast could have been better with more options but other than that the stay was perfect.

- The location of the homestay was great: walking distance to the city centre but in a much more beautiful area.
- The room was big. A/C and Wifi worked well. There’s no daylight in the room but this means it’s dark enough to sleep well.
- The breakfast was tasty.
- The owner was very friendly and helpful.
- The room price was amazingly cheap!
- The walls are not soundproof. One can easily hear
someone talking upstairs/in the garden

Cham and his family are incredibly great hosts. He supports you wherever he can, is always there for you and available, helps you organise trips and simply makes you feel at home in his homestay. The vibe in the house is incredibly positive. Everyone smiles and it's just lovely. The breakfast in the morning is wonderful
