We had an exceptional stay at Coconut Bay Hotel, Kalutara. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and every room has a beautiful beach view. The beach itself was very clean and well maintained. The staff were extremely helpful and kind, and the meals were very tasty with a great variety. Highly recommended for a relaxing family getaway. We’ll definitely visit again!

The room was lovely, had a balcony that looked right out onto the sea. Very clean. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
There was karaoke past midnight one night and then when it stopped some drunk locals carried on singing until 2/3am which maybe would have been funny on any other day but we had a wedding to go to that morning so really wanted some sleep. Zero soundproofing in the room and the aircon was blowing directly on the bed and we couldn't adjust the angle/flow rate, pillows were pretty poor. No sleep for us. We left early for wedding duties and had to climb out of a window as all the doors were locked and we couldn't get out, no one around with a key or anything ?

Big rooms & balcony , clean comfy large bed , swimming pool , fabulous staff made us feel at home & part of their family , wonderful food , lovely sitting outside to eat dinner with lights in the trees …….
Nothing negative to say about the property only the beach has a lot of rubbish there .

Three Staff members. Two female and a male trying to do service as much as possible.
Suneth is the chef nice person and trying cook us what we requested which is great
Cleanliness is very important and beach is dirty with lots of MT bottles and plastics.
Owner has dog living in hotel which is poo in font of our room.
Lots locals drinking alcohol during the afternoon till late which make us uncomfortable and unsafe.
I assume this hotel is designed to locals because unfriendly neibourhood.

We were there just 4 days, but this was the greatest time for us 6. Suneth, the cook did everything to make us feel good. It was very heartwarming for us. The entire stuff was very friendly, and we feel like one from the family. I recommend much this hotel ?

The hotel and staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. They can arrange excursions which are better than others online and also offer to cook specific meals if required. The weekly BBQ is great with music and dancing. The resident dog is lovely and friendly and keeps the strays in line. We witnessed turtles hatching on the beach when we were there which was amazing

Our stay at Hotel Coconut bay was great. We spent our last three nights in Sri Lanka here and it was nice; the room was clean and modern, the reception was nice and the food was lovely.
The beach that comes with it is incredible, it was pretty much a private beach to yourself which was very relaxing. The beds were fine, they had cushions to go onto the beds but needed to double or triple them up as they are thin but did the trick.
The breakfast was great, with a western choice or Sri Lankan choice but the Sri Lankan omelette was amazing. Comes with fresh fruits, coffee, toast and a freshly made smoothie.
Lunch and dinner were ok, it’s the same menu for both meals but some of the options on the menu were not available which would have been nice to know before hand. However the service is good.
Nihal was probably one of the most hard working person I have met. He was there to greet us and was there all day for us. He works from 6am till way past you go to bed and this did not affect his service in anyway. Honestly, anything you’re needing he’ll sort it out.
The owner is a lovely guy who always had a smile on his face when seeing you. He has really put money into the place to make it look great, especially at night when all the colourful lights come on. His Labrador is very very sweet too.
The sea is harsh, there is a strong current right in front of the hotel but walk right to the rocks and you are able to swim there but it is still strong so please be careful. The owner has put a pool in but it was in the final stages of completion when I was there so we weren’t able to use it.
The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The shower looks very fancy which was nice but the water pressure was very low compared to the other home stays we stayed at, but it was able to get quite hot which was amazing.
There is a supermarket 10 minute walk away and was amazing to go in. There is a pharmacy, liquor store and bakery there which very tasty.

Location is great, right next to the beautiful beach. View from the balcony is amazing. Room is clean and has everything you need. Nilantha is very friendly and will do anything to make you feel like at home. It was a wonderful experience!

The daytrip with the host was very nice and we could explore a lot. Food in the hotel was delicious.
We really enjoyed the boat trip, the herbal garden, the turtle rescue station and the buddhist temple.
The beach could be more family friendly.
