This is the first time I visited Kalpitiya although it isn't that far from Kuliyapitiya, my home town. So I was both excited and a little apprehensive about it. I was excited because it's a new destination. My apprehension was about whether the place would be worth a visit and whether Ocean View Beach Resort was the right pick. No sooner had I stepped in than my apprehension evaporated like dew in the sunshine. The staff made me feel welcome and put me at ease. Even before taking a shower, I stepped outside and strolled over to the beach some 50 metres away. A little later, I walked all the way to the kitesurfing point on the lagoon past the Mangrove conservation project and across the famed Sand Route. To cut a long story short, Kalpitiya simply enthralled me. Talking about the hotel, food was delicious and worth the price. The beach was just over the hotel compound and visible from outside the room. The staff was friendly, courteous and exhibited professionalism in serving both me and other guests there. It was a wonderful stay there and I would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveller, local or overseas who wishes to explore the beaches of Kudawa, Kandakkuliya and Kalpitiya

Location was fabulous. You just walked out of your beach bungalow right onto a beautiful beach. Dinner was very good too.

Very simple but very beautiful place. Very nice staff and owner. A great place to disconnect from technology and connect with nature and with family. Weather and ocean breezes are wonderful.
Also, a great dolphin watching trip starts right from the beach.

Excellent location. Food was very tasty. Comfortable bedroom with AC. The rooms are simple but very comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. The beach is very clean. This area is really good for Kitesurfing. We had an amazing experience here and highly recommend.

The beach and the restaurant next door Windy Waves far superior.
Very limited restaurant facilities everything we asked for was unavailable no staff around to ask questions.

Location was beautiful. Staff and owner and family were kind and helpful. Our dolphin trip was totally amazing. Do not miss the chance of a doing a dolphin boat trip if you get it ...not to be missed . Food was very tasty. Always cold beer available and the wi fi was surprisingly strong and we had an air conditioner which worked well. If it's important to you make sure you book air conditioner rooms.
Just a warning that the accommodation is beach huts with very basic open to the elements bathrooms and no hot water. Simple linen. Don't expect luxuries. But It's a wonderful desert island experience just go with an open mind.

This is not a five star resort with all the facilities, if you need that go elsewhere! But, if like us, what you love is accomodation right on the beach with a comfortable bed, semi open air bathroom, access to brilliant diving, kitesurfing etc with amazing staff and great food ( we had a prawn curry one night which was the best meal of our 5 weeks in Sri Lanka ) and the whole thing is a tranquil, tropical oasis, then this is the place! We stayed 5 nights and wished it was longer. Highly recommend but don’t book budget accom and then complain about what they do not provide. We had an amazing experience here and highly recommend.

Great location almost like having a private beach to yourself.Great value for the money,off season only 4 out of the six rooms occupied,3 of which by me and my driver and a friend.Best kept secret for budget conscience in kalpitiya.Highly recommend.
Food ok but a bit of room for improvement.However lots of restaurants very close, within walking distance.

good location and friendly staff, the beach is nice, but the water looks a bit murky unlike the beaches in the south or the east, but not bad for a swim.
There's a bit of a fly infestation at the moment which is annoying but hopefully it may be seasonal.
