Our stay at Anawasal was the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka—a genuinely relaxing and wholesome experience that exceeded our expectations. Nestled in a stunning location with breathtaking lagoon views, this intimate resort offers an idyllic retreat far from the crowds and tourist hustle.
The standout features are numerous. Beyond the serene setting, the property boasts excellent facilities including a beautiful pool, complimentary bicycles, and water sports options like kayaking and paddleboarding. The yoga classes are a lovely touch, and the resort also organizes various activities upon request for those seeking more engagement.
What truly impressed us, however, was the exceptional food and drinks—authentic, delicious, and consistently well-prepared.
But the real magic came from the warmth of Shibi, Dinesh, and their staff. They created a welcoming atmosphere from arrival, attending thoughtfully to every need and making us feel genuinely valued as guests.
Given the quality of what we experienced, we would unhesitatingly return to Anawasal and highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic, peaceful escape in Sri Lanka.
Our only regret is that our two-night stay was too brief to experience everything the resort has to offer—we barely scratched the surface!

Wow! Just spent 3 nights here. FANTASTIC hosts, staff, food and location! I had 3 yoga lessons. Shivi is an EXCELLENT teacher - yoga at sunset on a jetty over a lagoon was magical.
Every meal was DELICIOUS! Wonderful staff. The cabana was clean and comfortable facing the lagoon.
Really didn't want to leave. Thoroughly recommend!

Our stay at Anawasal Resort in Kalpitiya was truly unforgettable. This charming, nature-inspired resort offers a perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and authentic Sri Lankan hospitality.
The resort is located right at a stunning lagoon, providing a peaceful and scenic atmosphere. While the long, sandy beaches are about a 20-minute drive away, getting there is easy with a driver arranged by the resort, as ride-hailing apps like PickMe don’t always work in the area. The beaches are untouched, with no hotels around, making them perfect for a quiet swim or a long, peaceful walk. If you visit in March, the weather is hot and humid, with calm waves ideal for swimming. However, from December to February, this area is a famous destination for kite surfers and surfers.
One of the highlights of our stay was the free access to stand-up paddleboards (SUP) and kayaks, allowing us to explore the lagoon in the early morning or late afternoon when the temperature was cooler. The resort also offers bicycles for rent for free, making it easy to explore the surroundings at your own pace.
The small pool in the garden was another unique feature. The ground around the pool is covered in soft sand, so you can walk barefoot, giving a real island vibe to the experience. It’s a perfect spot to cool off and relax after a day of activities.
We stayed in a beautifully designed cottage that was both clean and comfortable, equipped with air conditioning to ensure a restful sleep. The most unforgettable part of our accommodation was the outdoor shower under the palm trees. At first, I was a little unsure about showering outside, but the lighting, privacy, and clean and natúral temperature water made it an incredible experience—one of the best showers I’ve ever had, right under the open sky!
Since the resort is surrounded by nature, you’ll hear the sounds of various animals, making you feel as if you’re deep in the jungle.
Only the road is a bit bumpy but we took a wrong one but there is one which is good so betterr to check with owner in advance. However, this is not a fault of owner but the government who should built better roads in some areas

Our stay at Anawasal was absolutely incredible !! The place is stunning, right in front of a peaceful and beautiful lagoon. The village feels very authentic, far from mass tourism. The rooms are clean, and the outdoor bathroom is beautiful. The food was always delicious, and Shibi and Dinesh were incredible welcoming and attentive hosts. We loved exploring the surroundings on the bikes and kayaks available for guests, the morning yoga sessions with Shibi, and kitesurfing at Rascals (next door). Thank you again for the stay!

This is the perfect place to just chill and unwind. The owners and staff are super considerate and both breakfast and the evening meals were lovely. The accommodation is great with outside seating as well as the communal areas and the pool to enjoy. Our 4 nights will remain one of our Sri Lanka highlights and did I mention the morning yoga session on the pier or the bikes and canoe….
Nothing a real gem

The property is stunning. The owners Dinesh and Shibi share their home with travellers and make them feel more than welcome, caring for your every need and making sure you have a wonderful time. I unfortunately was sick when I was there so I couldn't make use of the bicycles and kayaks, but I also enjoyed my time resting with a stunning view over the lagoon. The food is fresh and delicious, always made from scratch. Definitely recommend to stay at Anawasal!

We loved our stay in Anawasal, which concluded our 6-week journey around Sri Lanka. Our bungalow, overlooking the lagoon was cosy and comfortable. The morning yoga lesoons with Shiby were invigorating and energising, followed by a huge, delicious home-made breakfast. Dinners, consisting of Sri Lankan seafood specialties were a treat as well. The thing that makes Anawasal special, however are definitely the people, the people we met there, as well as the lovely couple who runs it and their wonderful staff. They all create an ambiance, that makes Anawasal a truly special spot in Kalipitya to unwind or experience adventure. Loved seeing the dolphins too. Such an unforgettable experience!

We had the most incredible stay at Anawasal in Kalpitiya! From the moment we arrived, it felt like a little slice of paradise. The atmosphere was so peaceful, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
The rooms were gorgeous – spacious, clean, and with such a lovely rustic vibe that really makes you feel close to nature. Waking up to those views was just amazing.
We loved how many activities there were to choose from. Kitesurfing was a definite highlight – the instructors were fantastic and made the whole experience so much fun. The yoga classes were also such a great way to relax and unwind after an active day.
And the food – wow! Every meal was packed with fresh, local ingredients and full of flavor. They were so accommodating with dietary preferences too, which made everything so easy.
What really stood out to us was how much they care about sustainability and supporting the local community. It’s not just a beautiful place to stay; it feels like you’re part of something meaningful.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re looking for a unique, relaxing, and adventure-filled getaway, we can’t recommend Anawasal enough!
It's perfect. You also have Rascals next door if you want to experience something different for a little while. So can't say a single negative.

We had a wonderful stay, Dinesh always made sure that we had everything and anything we could possibly wish for. The food was delicious, the tea advices, the thoughtfulness and care truly made us feel at home.
It was also very nice, that you get the opportunity to go kitesurfing with the neighbors at 'the rascals'.
Thank you so much, for giving us a restful and cosy last few days in Sri Lanka, after our fantastic trip in this beautiful country.

We stayed there at the end of our trip and it was the highlight of our time in Sri Lanka. This place has such a good energy, the food is amazing and it's the perfect spot to decompress. Shibi is a fantastic yoga teacher and I really enjoyed her daily classes, while my partner went kitesurfing.

We had a really nice stay at Anawasal !
The hotel is a bit outside of the next city in a calm Palmforest ride next to the Lagoon.
The location is beautifully build and a great place to calm down and relax for a couple of days.
The hotel also serves food, which we had every night and which was delicious!
In addition, the staff and the owners were very kind and really made our stay special.
The matrasses were a bit too hard for our taste :) except for that, everything was great!

Lovely place located in a secluded area of Kalpitiya - it's a quiet place, 100% positive vibes, and perfect place to chill. Rooms were spacious enough, beds were comfortable, and our hosts were so kind and always ready to help. Food was great, especially the Sri Lankan dinner that they prepare for the guests. It's also possible to book a yoga session or a massage, as well as a boat tour of the lagoon, and they have a kite surf school nearby if that's your thing!
Everything was perfect!
