A lovely, small property (5 rooms) with a pool. Family room was very spacious and had a nice, private courtyard area next to the pool. A 5-10 min walk to Turtle Beach and the adjoining sheltered bay - good for swimming. A 5-10 min tuk-tuk to get to the beach clubs, the nicer restaurant area (in my opinion) and the surfing beaches. Staff were very friendly and helpful, e.g. arranged for our laundry to be cleaned for a modest price. Breakfast was plentiful.

What a great stay!! The best coffee we had in our 3 week stay around Sri Lanka, The owners are really helpful and friendly, he even called out a doctor for my Husband, which was much appreciated. The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, it was nice having a separate room for my Son after alot of Sharing room space . The swimming pool was also a great bonus , we spent a lot of time cooling off around the nice pool area, most of the time we had to ourselves…. Would definitely recommend , loved our stay thank you!!

Stayed here for 5 nights and enjoyed everyone of them. The location of Vila Tara is great just a few minutes walk from the mainstreet but at a quiet and peaceful area. The host Sissira and his family keep everything very well maintained and clean and they do their outmost to give a great service. The rooms were spacious and pool was great and breakfast was delicious and plenty. We would definitely recomment this place to other travelers.

We stayed for 4 nights and the Villa could not have been more perfect. We loved the position which is 5 minutes walk from the busy road where all the bars and restaurant's are so its nice an quiet. The owner was also staying and asked us numerous time if everything was well and organised coffee more than once (best coffee ever). The manager and staff did everything we needed and they made a meal one night of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, all I can say it was stunning. The manager also took us out for a day in his tuk tuk sight seeing up the coast which was well worth it and we went to a gem mine, lake cruise, tsunami museum and a turtle hatchery. I chose this villa after I read the reviews and after staying It only rubber stamped how good it is.

The daily manager Sisira and his family and staff are the perfect hosts- they are professional and attentive, not intrusive and leave you to your privacy on your porch/balcony. The garden and the pool are beautifully kept and maintained. The location is perfect in the quiet backstreets off the busy main road, yet close to restaurants and the beach. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. We were so lucky that Sisira offered to cook dinner for us one night. If you get the offer, make sure that you say yes. He is a former professional chef, and the Sri Lankan food that he served for us on our porch was some of the best that we had on our trip. Needless to say, we highly recommend this place.

Fabulous place just off the beaten track and only 5 min walk to the beach and main hub of Hikkaduwa. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Villa and grounds kept clean, breakfast was plentiful and a great relaxing start to the day. Definitely recommend

Beautiful, charming, Understated elegance. Our stay was very relaxed and host Sisira and his family were the perfect hosts; incredibly helpful and the food was impeccable. The property is stunning with art and sculptures giving a real sense of luxury.

We only stayed at Villa Tara for a night as the airport was our destination early the next day. We're so glad we spent our last night here! The owner welcomed us with open arms and provided a nice overview of the room and property. As it was the end of the main tourist season, we were upgraded to a suite without extra charge. The pool is beautifully maintained. As I mentioned earlier, we had an early start to the airport, so a breakfast was provided fort us extra early (5:30AM). While we did not explore Hikkaduwa, we liked that we were not so close to the main street provided peace and quiet.

Loved everything! The hotel is clean and the pool was so nice. The bed was comfy and the AC really good. The location is good, just a small walk from the beach and shops and restaurants. The owner and the staff were all so friendly and helpful, such lovely people! We booked the room for one night but ended up extending for three and felt sad to leave. So if you are thinking about booking the place, do it! You won’t regret it :)

Lovely small hotel located in a quiet area of Hikkaduwa and walking distance to local restaurants and the beach. Sisira and his wife are incredibly welcoming and friendly and keep Villa Tara very clean and tidy. They serve a great breakfast, freshly made to order and with superb coffee. Very large bedroom with a comfortable four poster bed, large balcony (see note below) and a fridge. Nice swimming pool with sufficient loungers.
No kettle in the room. The description of the balcony should highlight that it is shared with a standard room next door = not totally private

Fantastic hospitality. Only a couple minutes walk to the main road, and a couple more to the beach. It's not quite cheap, but not bad considering other nearby options as well. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast options are also great. Highly recommend getting one of the second-floor rooms to enjoy the balcony.
It's hard to nitpick. More water pressure would've been nice, but it was the best of the three places I stayed in Sri Lanka. Also would be nice if there was a place to charge devices near the bed in the loft.

Lovely and friendly guys, the owner also came to speak to us and he was very friendly. All staff smiley and couldn't do enough for you, always looking after you as soon as you arrive. Hidden gem, close enough to facilities but far enough away to feel luxury.

Very nice accommodation, with a pool, very friendly staff and excellent breakfast with several options. Close to restaurants and the beach where you can see turtles.
A shower next to the pool would be nice (so you can wash your dirty feet from the beach). Everything else is perfect.

Quiet and peaceful location but close enough to busy town, bus and train station. The people there are warm and welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay just right. The rooms are cool and comfortable, loved the gardens, the pool, the breakfasts and excellent coffee.
There was nothing we didn’t like. Villa Tata was a great find for us.
