One of the absolute highlights of our journey through Sri Lanka was staying at the Plantation House and having the privilege of meeting its remarkable owners, Peter and Glenda. From the moment we arrived, we felt less like guests and more like friends, warmly welcomed by a team whose care, professionalism, and attention to detail were evident in every interaction. Mornings at the Plantation House were unforgettable. Peter’s breakfasts (and soft jazz) were nothing short of exceptional thoughtfully curated, beautifully presented, and among the finest meals we enjoyed anywhere in the country. They set the tone for each day and quickly became something we genuinely looked forward to. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and impeccably maintained, offering a perfect blend of charm and relaxation. The pool provided a tranquil retreat after busy days exploring, and the property itself felt wonderfully secure, with a dedicated guard on site who was always available to assist with anything we needed. Convenient tuk tuk parking made getting around Hikkaduwa effortless, adding another layer of ease to our stay. The location strikes an ideal balance, close enough to easily access all the amenities and attractions of Hikkaduwa, yet tucked away just far enough to remain peaceful and private. Peter’s decades of experience in the hospitality industry shine through in every detail, making the Plantation House not just a place to stay, but a destination in its own right. Our family fell in love with the property, the people, and Sri Lanka as a whole. We left with full hearts, lasting memories, and a strong desire to return.
We would have liked to stay longer in Hikkaduwa and at the Plantation House.

The owner gave us the warmest friendly welcome despite us turning up later than expected. We loved the chilled atmosphere of the hotel & the delicious breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble & the recommendations for food, drink & tuk tuk driver were perfect.

Liked: felt relaxed as soon as we walked in. Peter was so welcoming & accommodating(sadly we didn’t meet Glenda). He was the perfect host. Close enough to town but far enough away to feel total peace & quiet. Breakfast was superb. Special mention to Dinusha Tuk Tuk driver who was never far away when we needed a ride. Disliked the fact that we couldn’t stay longer.

Beautiful and tasteful property, a wonderful tropical oasis! Amazing breakfasts every morning. Delicious!!! We were feeling very welcome and Glenda and Peter gave us great recommendations on restaurants and other things to do while we were there.

A beautiful property, and Peter and Glenda made us very welcome. It’s an easy walk into town. The breakfast choices were imaginitive and delicious. The restaurant recommendations were excellent and the early morning canoe trip on the lake they organised was incredibly peaceful with lots of beautiful birds.

Loved our stay at Plantation house and really hope we can visit again. The couple running the place were absolutely brilliant. Rooms were really comfortable, with everything you need. Special shout out to Petes breakfast creations. Some of the best ive ever had anywhere.

Amazing, the hosts were so lovely! The property is clean and inviting, the breakfast was superb! One of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka! They have a local tuk tuk driver that you can call from reception, the property is in walking distance to the town.

I want to share my impressions of this heavenly place. An amazing, secluded place to spend a couple's vacation, exceptional service, hospitality, friendly hosts, and the most delicious breakfasts we've ever tasted!!!!! The Stay was absolutely lovely, best stay of our trip. The hosts really made it great as they told us a lot about the area and different restaurants and places to visit, as well as information regarding the area. Beautiful hotel and Peters breakfasts were amazing, different every day and super tasty.

We have just returned from a wonderful month in Sri Lanka, staying in 3 different locations. Our last 2 weeks were spent at Plantation House and this was the highlight of our trip. We were warmly greeted by the lovely Glenda, who owns Plantation House with her charming husband Peter and immediately felt at home in this enchanting oasis of calm. The rooms are bright and stylish, and the sparkling pool and lush grounds form a tropical paradise. Each day Peter and his staff created a different breakfast, blended fresh fruit juice combinations, followed by an amazing dish of locally sourced fruit, sometimes garnished with fresh grated coconut from the garden trees. The main course was always a different choice of both western or Sri Lankan cooked dish, but every one a delicious masterpiece. Thank you both for making our holiday so special, and sharing your lovely home. We will certainly be joining you again!
