The staff were very nice and attended to every need. Very friendly staff as well and generally a very hospitable place.
The facilities need an upgrade and general upkeep could be better. The pool water felt like it lacked chlorine and there was a bad smell coming from the ocean

It is a nice hotel in a great location. The room was fine. However, there was bathroom smell along the corridor on the second floor. I think there is a ventilation issue for the corridor. I hope they rectify it.

Loved the pools and the views. Staff were welcoming, helpful and smiley. Lunch was delicious and dinner at the Beach house was lovely
Outside around the pool could do with a bit of paint. It was quiet when were there out of season and in season may be different, but breakfast was a bit dull, the lite version of every hotel breakfast we had in Sri lanka. Walking down into the village there were so many more enticing options. I suggest the breakfast chefs go for a walk into town for a bit of inspiration.

The staff was so absolutely wonderful. Genuinely kind people. The people of Sri Lanka have been some of the nicest we have met around the world. The food was also very good- especially the tuna steak . Nice presentation and great flavor.
This property has so much potential but is in pretty serious need of renovation. Mostly patch/paint around the property and stain for the wood decking. Our biggest issue was that in our 4 night stay, we moved rooms 3 times! The AC was broken and literally laying half on the floor of the suite we had booked. We moved to the 2nd room but we paid for a stunning view which that room did not deliver. Move to the 3rd room and the AC was working initially, but flashed an error code and was not working shortly thereafter. The value for price paid was definitely not there.

Nice ocean view, very friendly staff.
Very old building and facilities. Elevator not functioning. I took the suite, the pictures are much much more nicer than the actual room.
It was not clean, not to the extent of leaving, but definitely not what you expect from a supposedly 4* hotel.
WiFi? Basically non existent. Cellular reception-barely.
Toilet was broken, and obviously was fixed using the wrong size seat.
Floor was some kind of oily.
Windows are not sealed properly, had loud blowing winds.
But the cherry was-ants in the bed ?
That’s when I decided I’m not staying, asked for a refund just to get explanations from the manager about why I’m wrong and should stay. I left the place anyway…

Great location and the staff were 10/10, they were so friendly and professional, food was good and rooms were lovely and spacious with excellent views. The massage was exceptional and they put on a great fire show on our last night. Would stay again!
The whole hotel needs a bit of a refresher, a lick of paint and a new lift. A lot of the common areas are a bit tired and new towels and bedding are needed urgently! It’s a salt water pool so I get that the towels will wear eventually. Nothing major but there are lots of hotels in the same price range that were a bit more polished.

The overall property is beautiful. The pool side and the ocean view is stunning. The breakfast and the ala carte food menu is extensive and delicious. Overall great experience. The location is however at a bit of a distance from the main beach

Hotel staff were mostly very friendly. There are a few good things about here, like the laundry service and the pool area. They tried to make things right for us especially when many problems arose. However, it’s overall a terrible execution in management to begin with. I will not recommend to stay here.
We stayed in Thaproban Pavilion Waves hotel for 3 unpleasant nights. Things went downhill since the first night when we decided to have dinner in their restaurant. My husband ordered a seafood pizza, and unfortunately he had a severe food poisoning hours after. Bad vomiting and diarrhea. It was so bad that he had to stay in bed the whole day. We canceled all our activities in Galle and Unawatuna in 3 days. I’m very disappointed that only place we ended up visiting was a hospital in Galle.
The staycation wasn’t a good experience either, since there were many problems with the room. The phone wasn’t working. The hair dryer wasn’t working. (No one came to fix the phone till we checked out. I had to walk downstairs to the reception every time I needed anything. The person who came to fix the hair dryer was also rude, although most of the staff here were very friendly.) We found multiple disgusting yellow stains on bed sheet and pillow cases. It’s clear that those were not changed before we arrived. Be aware of ants in the room. Many ants were crawling on the food I brought back to my sick husband. They are the large orange kind. I was bitten by those ants in my sleep too.

Everything in the property was super excellent amazing wonderful
1) the pool was very nice
2) the breakfast was excellent
3) The whole staff the manager Gihan and Suba were amazing Gihan did extra miles to make our stay wonderful
4) the hotel location is very good close and walking distance to the live an active street full of shops cafes and restaurants
5) the hotel decoration color theme and facilities are wonderful
I highly recommend anyone who is coming to Unawaruna to Stay at Thapronan Waves Hotel
You will really enjoy your stay in all aspects

We returned after 6 years to find the friendly and accommodating staff most welcoming. The service was brilliant with such genuine care and warmth. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. The location is also perfect.
Some areas are looking a little tired but it is situated by the sea.
