I loved the privacy and location.
It has a wrap around balcony with ocean view.
It is only more or less 100 steps from the beach.
The only thing I didn't like were the many steps leading up to the property .

The room was nice and spacious with a fridge. Bathroom is fine also with hot water.

I really loved the family that did their best for me every morning and made a vegan breakfast specially for me.
It was a big room with a fan which was perfect at night.
They've been very kind and I've had the feeling of home for the 3 nights I spend here.
And the chameleons that I saw during breakfast where a very pleasant surprise.

The location of this homestay is perfect - it is very close to the beach but is perfectly set back from the main road so that it feels very quiet and relaxing (just a note, that there are quite a number of steps up to the property). The garden of the property is beautiful and a lovely place to have breakfast in the morning, which was delicious. The room was a good size, comfortable and clean. Would definitely recommend for an ideal place to stay whilst exploring Unawatuna and the surrounding area.

A charming hideaway with great views. Our hosts were delightful and always helpful. We were often presented with drinks made from fruits from their garden which was an absolute delight to sit in. Every day Kanthi prepared a different breakfast and always attractively presented. We were really sad to leave . You definitely won’t regret booking here, if they are not booked up already.! The apartment had hot water and a fridge and gas ring and an outside balcony from which you could see the sea. Thank you both for making us feel so very welcome.

The way to an authentic experience.
I booked this guesthouse because of the recommendations, the price and the location near Unawatuna Beach.
The entry is not easy to find, there's a small path from the main street leading to stairs up the hill. Once you find it, it's easy. The owner offers help via phone in case you won't find it.
The house is quite big, where the family lives in most parts of it and rents out some apartments. It also has a nice garden, so you feel a bit like living in the jungle. Due to the location on the hill, you can enjoy a nice view on the beach from some points.
The room itself is really basic, bed, Fan on the ceiling, desk, and enough room for your bag. The bathroom offers a shower, toilet, and sink. Everything was clean, not new but in good condition.
The best part is the service of the owner, they are really friendly and warm-hearted. The included breakfast was made with love and very tasty. I felt very welcome, just booked another night there, on the way back to Colombo.
Would be great to have the possibility to open the window to get fresh air into the room but no mosquitoes. A mosquito net on the window would help, although there's a mosquito net provided with the bed.

Its a nice appartment. You will not be able to cook, as many facilities are missing, but if you want just a peaceful appartment a bit outside from Unawatuna main beach and still super fast at the beach, then this is your place.
Be aware, there are bad stairs to climb. Not suitable for persons who dont have a good physical condition (as you need to climb them a couple of times per day). Except this, you have your peace here.
