If you want a place away from the hustle bustle of Galle Fort, but not too far away, this place is perfect.
Firstly, Mr. Hiran and his wife make you feel right at home. The place is warm, really spacious and comfortable. I was travelling with parents with knee troubles so we took one room downstairs and one upstairs. There is a shared balcony upstairs which was a great place for morning meditation. It was also a great place for bird-watching as there are so many different species around. Also, multiple cozy corners to sit with a book, a common area with table and chairs to play cards, access to a kitchen were all great plus points.
The breakfast Mr. Hiran's wife made was a lovely spread of fruits and Sri Lankan food. Over two days we had string hoppers, hoppers and roti, and it was all awesome.
Mr. Hiran is easily accessible on whatsapp, so communication before arrival and whenever anything was needed, was not a challenge. We had an AC issue one night and he had it fixed by the time we were back next day. For travelling, we used Pick Me and were able to book cars, else if you get out of the Sumedha Mawatha lane, you can find passing tuktuks as well.
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it!
For the price it is offered at, it really is a steal.

We stayed here for nearly a week. The room was comfy with a hot shower and good air con. It was great to have the space of the house eg with the kitchen and living areas to relax! Wifi was pretty reliable with speeds between 5 and 25mbsp depending on the time of day (and usage on the network!) Hosts were lovely and went that extra step, even lending us some traditional Sri Lankan clothes of there's to try for photos!

The owners are lovely and make us feel like home in their beautiful house. The house is in a very quiet area, not far from the city center by bus. The bus stop is next to the house so it’s very easy, fast and cheap to go to the city. The breakfast is also very good! We will come back here without hesitation! ?

We had an amazing stay at Hiran and his wife’s guest house in Galle. From the moment we arrived, we felt like part of their family. They gave us a very warm welcome and were always available to help with any questions or requests. They provided great advice on local transportation and recommended some must-see spots nearby.
Every morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast made with fresh produce from their garden—bananas, papaya, and a different Sri Lankan dish each day. We truly savored the food, and it was wonderful to chat with Hiran during breakfast about everything from travel tips to local life.
We also had the pleasure of observing monkeys in the garden each day. As a lovely bonus, Hiran kindly drove us to the train station when we left.
The guest house had excellent Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a spacious common area, and the option to use the kitchen—these little extras really made our stay special.
The only thing to note is that the train passes quite close to the house, and it can be a bit loud at times. However, we were used to it, so it didn’t bother us at all.
We highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area!

The room's description is misleading: the size was not as stated, while a balcony existed, it wasn't a room with a balcony; the double bed was rather small, there was no TV, and it was very noisy. This area is fairly noisy due to some neighbors and the proximity of the railways.

Hiran and his wife are extremely friendly and take excellent care of their guests.
The breakfast is very tasty and they are happy to give tips on the surrounding area. There are monkeys to watch in the garden ?
We would stay there again in a heartbeat ☺️

I had the most wonderful stay with this family. Hiren and his wife looked after me and were so welcoming. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and comfortable this is definitely the right place. It was my first stop in Sri Lanka and I couldn't have found a more welcoming spot. ? Ps. I ate here for dinner and breakfast- I would highly reccomend it!

This was the best stay we had till our stay in Sri Lanka. The house is very cosy, clean, and has a calm location. 5 minutes from the hotel, you can find the main road, where you can get bus to Galle Fort.
One thing that really stood outwas that he was concerned for his guests genuinely and treated us like a family. If you are visiting with a family, this is the best place.

I spent two nights at Hiran’s house and I wished I had stayed longer!! Hiran and his wife Malika are so lovely and always willing to help. I can only recommend their establishment if you want to stay near Galle.
If I had to find a con: there is a temple 400 meters away and you can hear the chanting every morning at 5:00am - but I guess it’s part of the local experience :)

We spent two nights with Hiran and his wife and we didn't want to leave! They are the most friendly and caring hosts! Their house is spacious, very clean, comfortable and beautiful and the garden is magnificent. Hiran's wife is excellent cook and we had many interesting coversations with them. They are both very helpful and polite. We would 100% recommend their accomodation and when in Sri Lanka, we will definitely stay there again!

Everything about this stay was fabulous. They have a pretty garden.The family is very sweet and will do everything to make sure you have a comfortable stay. The place was crystal clean and it was very beautiful. The breakfast was also very yummy and plateful. I think I have to go there again to experience the same . Good lunch and coffee places are just a walk away too.
There was nothing not to like.

My stay at Galle Rest Home was truly amazing. I was treated like family and felt so welcomed. Hiran picked me up and dropped me to the station, making sure that everything was alright. He walked with me to the bus stop and was always there for me if I needed help or tips. He even repaired my suitcase for me. Breakfast was different every morning and so much and absolutely delicious. The accommodation was outstanding, so big and well-kept. It was easy to reach downtown either by bus, tuktuk or on foot. Thank you so much for making this such an unforgettable time for me!
