Home-stay,your not kidding.
I really felt like one of the family.
As well as the breakfast which was included,the woman also cooked me dinner at very little cost,was very helpful and informative.
Location fab,right opposite the massive golden Buda.
Everything perfect with my stay but the reason for visiting Dambula is obviously to see the fantastic Buda cave but the entrance unfortunately is a good 20 minute walk away from the Golden Buda.

The location is perfect, literally a few minutes from the main cave and golden temples in Dambulla. The host is the sweetest and was very kind throughout my stay. Will definitely stay here again!

The host was extremely friendly. She helped us with everything we wanted to do. Arranging a tuktuk, delicious breakfast, lunch (to-go) and dinner, and even Arranging seats in the public bus to Kandy!

We traveled from a Sri Lankan friend's house in the east and it felt like we never left the family hospitality. Rooms are private, clean and comfortable and the host is amazing, she offered to cook us dinner and made us an INCREDIBLE breakfast before we left. She loaned us sahris to cover up for the temple caves which is only a short walk from the homestay.
Not quite a private sitting room but it's more than made up for by its homeliness

We. were warmly welcomed in this quiet and very clean hotel with big comfortable beds and fast internet. The localisation is close to the cave temple. The host organised for us tuc tuc to see Polonaruwa. The breakfasts and lunches were beter than delicious.
They have electric generator.
We totally recommend to stay at SA Village..

We stayed in a 2 people bedroom at SA Village in June 2022. It was our first stay during our Sri Lanka trip and we couldnt be happier. We got amazingly fresh avocado drinks at our arrival, the room was very fresh and clean. It was 5min walking from the Golden Temple, and walking distance from the city centre. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious! We also arranged with them the taxi from the airport and a tuk-tuk to explore Dambulla. The greatest tuk tuk driver! We got to see Dambulla gems and learn a lot about plants, traditions and fun facts. We totally recomend you to book your stay at SA Village
The only thing, and it is 200% personal, is the dogs outside at night. For me it was a bit scary, since they are protecting their area, all that barking felt like we were a threat. Everything went fine and I saw it across Sri Lanka, is just to give an heads up ;)

The owner was lovely and the place was spotless, which is a nice change. The location across from the caves and gold buddha was great but you need a tuk to town and the drivers were charging a lot sadly. A Sri Lankan breakfast was provided which was lovely. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were the best I've slept on for ages. We had the front room which had a balcony but no railing, for those of you who have children.
The room we paid for was advertised as having a tv, a view (the pic showed a lovely view of the buddha), toiletries, slippers etc, so we paid the additional money, $20 USD, but none of those things were provided. The bathroom was micro and the showers were directly over the toilet and squished in beside the toilet, making showering difficult and flooding the bathroom. You have to fully wipe down the toilet after someone showers before using it. For the same price, we could have stayed in a hotel with a pool, restaurant/bar, and other facilities.
