Great facilities as expected from a name brand hotel, the staff is polite and the location is very central to everything. The shower water pressure is a great bonus.
If I really had to nitpick, I would say the carpet furnishings in the lobby are showing their age.

The family room was a great size for the three of us. The hotel is located in the tourist area making it easy to get around.
The hotel ia tired and needs refurbishment to justify the rates charged. They are competing with numerous other hotels in the area which are possibly better value.

We stayed for a night, for a night it was fine.
The hotel system is hacked. I received a whatsapp message asking to confirm my creditcard details. They send an external link. I messaged booking.com and they confirmed that it was a scam. It is over a week since I check-out and there is still a reservation on my creditcard for the stay, and the same amount has already been deducted from my creditcard. It smelled like people smoked in our non-smoking room.

Hotel is 300 meters from the beach, buffet was excellent!! Train station near the beach and was walking distance. Spacious rooms!! Checkin was too quick, friendly staff. Sure will visit again.

Comfortable beds, smoking rooms available, walkable to attractions, shopping, restaurants
Staff seemed rushed to chanrge for everything, but slow to offer simple services, such as an ash tray...when asked multiple times to bri g to the room, since it was a smoking room. Why was thecroom not equipped?. I added breakfast the next morning, and thought it could be added to my room. Instead of explaining the policy; that you have to pay immediately after ...which is not common for a hotel of this caliber...the main cashier/ staff person literally yelled at me to return and pay...guests turned to look,like I was trying skip on my bill...I was going to my room. I was under the impression that i could have paid at checkout. Instead, I had to stand there, wait for the staff to bill me, people were still staring at me..very uncalled for and embarrassing. I told the staff,that this policy needs to be posted, or explained to guests if they don't add breakfast during check-in. I had no problpaying for my meal...but to be chased and forced to pay immediately is crazy. I told the cashier that the bill should have been printed and brought to me immediately upon finishing if this is their policy. Breakfast is a buffet, so there are not any add ons thstvthey waiting for. I had the same experience for room service the night before on my soda and juice order. The staff said no, thstvroom service is done by immediate pay. I found this odd, as every large hotel I've previously stayed at in Sri Lanka, doesn't require immediate payment.

Very Poor
Unprofessional staff and didnt treat us fair and charging us more money and behaving poorly with out family. Made us late for our trip by causing a scene which was caused by their own lack of responsibility and error. Charged us twice as they made us mistake while updating their system and werent accepting their own fault.
