Wonderful
I'd been wanting to stay at this famed estate for 10 years and it certainly didn't disappoint. Our stay was simply perfect: secluded, we wandered through the gardens just the two of us, swam in the infinity pool and lay in the sun-dappled shade with the sound of the breeze through the trees and all sorts of birds chirping. Our dinner was on the lawn and under the moon and stars; breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable but not overly-attentive. We now want to visit all Teardrop Hotels!
Slightly punchier than expected prices but our stay was a treat!

The whole setting is just fabulous. It is worth staying a night as you get to really explore the gardens. The staff was very accommodating to us, organising a special tour. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious
The lunch and dinner options were a bit boring. The Lunuganga salad could have been something fabulous considering all the fantastic leaves Sri Lanka has on offer but instead it was a plain, standard few lettuce leaves with a few flower petals. There is hardly any options for vegans which one of our guests is.

I was captivated by its secluded location and natural beauty. The architecture, designed by Geoffrey Bawa, beautifully harmonizes with the lush surroundings, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff who made us feel right at home.
While my overall stay was delightful, I did find our rooms and bathrooms to be on the smaller side. However, these minor points did not detract from the magical charm of the estate.

A unique and stunning location. We felt like weekend guests invited by Geoffrey Bawa. The house and guest buildings are beautifully preserved to ensure an authentic and unique experience. A big thank you to all the staff who work extremely hard to create the wonderful ‘house guest’ experience. Highly recommended.

Staying at Lunuganga was like stepping into a living work of art. The estate’s serene beauty, with its lush gardens and tranquil lake views, offered a peaceful retreat. The blend of architecture and nature created an inspiring atmosphere that made our brief stay truly memorable. The pool is a perfect paradise

The property is gorgeous and the staff are extremely kind and attentive. I loved the happy hour and the breakfast.
The bathroom in the room should be renovated. While I love the concept of the open air shower, there were a lot of bugs.

All the staff are educated on the historical background of the hotel, respected architect Bawa, and are proud to do their respective jobs!
About the food, I don't think it is bad. The hotel is indeed the most impressive in Sri Lanka. However, it was not the best meal in Sri Lanka. The portions were a bit much for us. A little less and more variety of flavors in each dish would make it more enjoyable for a few nights.
