The pool and gardens are stunning, it’s very peaceful and the two rescued dogs are a joy to have around. The rooms are spacious and have a fridge, the bed is comfy. Good Sri Lankan breakfast
Instructions on arrival could have been better, AC could have been cooler

Loved the place at the river. Very nice welcome and big room, like small apartment with little kitchen og big bathroom with nice shower. Nice staff and breakfast.
We did not have an adapter matching the electric plot.

Wonderful
We stayed in Hettimulla River House during our first night in Sri Lanka. The owners were more than friendly and the location of the guesthouse was simply amazing. Everything was nice and tidy, the pool was superb and the view over the river was just perfect.

It was our best stay in Sri Lanka so far. Such an amazing place with beautiful nature, cozy natural rooms and kind hosts. We really enjoyed the time here!! The breakfast was authentic Sri Lanka food. Just great! When we got time left, we will definitely come back. Thank you!!!

The room, bathroom and garden are very spacious. The warm welcome with a nice cup of tea from John. Also the warm welcome of the two lovely dogs?. Great swimming pool. Good place to have dinner is Kandoori (about 10 minutes walk).
You share the balcony with neighbouring guests ... that's a bit annoying when those people are smoking.

we stayed more then planned and I liked it more than all the places we stay in Sri Lanka (8 hotels)
beach is far. but you can rent a bike in hotel or take tuk tuk

1. A big beautiful garden right next to the river
2. The host, John was very kind and warm-hearted.
3. The local staff who speaks no English was very helpful and had a genuine smile all the time.
4. A spacious room with a big balcony
1. The water pressure for the shower was very weak.
2. The mosquito net has lots of big holes. (so-called, no mosquito net)
3. We didn't like the attitude of the local host who manages this guest house.
(-asking us something without heart,
-if the answer comes, no listening, which means, no interest!
-the whole attitude toward guests was quite arrogant from the beginning)
4. Instead of being arrogant, he had better check the room condition before he gets the guests.(mosquito net, bathroom, etc.)

wonderful place, friendly hosts, a corner of heaven on earth. the room is clean, there is a kitchen and shower room, air conditioning! delicious breakfast with Indian food. we would like to come back here again!
