The home cooked food was good and
some of the family were lovely. They kindly gave us a lift from.the station and took us to get some cash from Bogatala (we did pay for this)
Being stared at by multiple family members at all times, especially during meals. No privacy apart from in the room. Damp room, beds etc. Difficulty communicating.

Very Good
Simple but very friendly and kind Homestay. Nice Accomodation close to Hortons and good local food or lunchpackage on request.
Beautiful located in Nature! We could even watch bear-monkeys(pourpour-langur) from the garden :D

The owners are really sweet and very helpful (they don't speak much english but we understood each other just fine). She made us home-cooked dinner and packed a delicious breakfast for us to take to the morning trekking. The brother of the owner took us to Horton Plains for a fair price and got us to the main entrance in just 30 min. Altogether was a good experience!
The place is very simple and rural, which was okay for us but might not be for everyone. Even so, good place for so little money.

The room was clean and there was hot water in the shower.
Not coated blanket. A big spider in the bathroom. This whole area is very expensive. You could find a similar accommodation in a different part of the country for half the price. Beware of the entrance fee for the nearby Horton Plains National Park which is severely overpriced.

I went here with my friends. They treated us very well. The food was also very tasty. A free environment and we were free to be as we wanted. If I visit the area again, I'll definitely choose this again.

Lovely property, verily simple for the price but nice location if you want to go to Horton Plains. But close to nothing else around. So best for families in order to make the journey a bit cheaper.
The host can cook food for you which is super delicious!
Hosts speak no English only studied sentences. She mentioned wrong prices multiple times. Please be aware that breakfast is provided at an extra cost of 350 rupee, dinner is 700 and drop off/pick up to Horton by Jeep is around 5000 rupee or more.
Additionally the host charged me more for the room than advertised on booking.com. My booking converted from USD to Sri Lankan rupee was 8000 (2 nights) but she charged me 10.000.

The people who run this place are very friendly, and the old lady cooks very nice curry, and very cheaply too. If you are a group, having the bungalow with three bedrooms and a small living room to yourself is very nice.
The overall cleanliness was not great, and one bathroom had not been cleaned at all, and had hairs in the shower and sink. Also, the staff speak very little English. I am not sure how we would have managed with a Sinhala speaker in the group.

Pleasant
Good location to visit Horton Planes National Park. The entrance to the park from this side is much less crowded, so starting in the morning is easier.
The owners are very friendly, though speak almost no English.
The place is a local homestay. It is a very basic accomodation, but would certainly suffice for one night stay was it kept cleaner. Our one and only objection was that the bed linens and the bathroom were dirty. This was not acceptable, even for such a low price. We finally got some clean linens, but one does not want to arrive into a dirty room after a tireing trip.

Friendly staff and location
They have given my booked room to another family and we got 2 small dirty rooms instead of single family room. The bathroom was not clear. Looks like they didn't prepare those rooms for any guests. They didn't answer my calls and also they didn't call back.

The location is good for visits to Horton Plains. The home cooked food was nice.
The room had crumbling plaster of the walls and mouldy pillow cases. Worth noting this is pretty common in Sri Lanka as it is always humid. But still, not very nice when you do encounter it. The room price is on par with other much nicer properties I have stayed in on my trip. Again, worth considering that the owners are a family in a small rural area so it’s not fair to hold it against them to not benchmark themselves against other places in bigger towns and cities.

This place is located in a peaceful and quiet environment uphill, with a stream running close by and within walking distance to the Ohiya Railway Station. The room and bathroom were simple and clean with adequate facilities. There is also a shared space for dining. It can be kinda chilly early in the morning and at night.
It is managed by a lovely couple who warmly welcomed me with tea. They have been very friendly, helpful, and hospitable throughout my stay. Also prepared delicious Sri Lankan food upon request, and the prices are very reasonable as well.
They further assisted me in arranging a ride to Horton Plains National Park and introduced me to another wonderful person named 'Rupasinghe'. He was very informative about the attractions / viewpoints and helped me with my travel plans too.
I would happily recommend this place if you're planning to visit Horton Plains National Park, Devil's Staircase, or Bambarakanda Falls.
Internet access and cellular reception is limited in this area.

Nice hotel. Basic room, but the owners were really friendly and good. They made me a big dinner, arranged a Tuk Tuk to get to World’s End and gave me a packed lunch. Ohiya is also a nice location. Recommended if you’re there.

The hostess was absolutely adorable and so nice to us. Her food was delicious. The place is located in a beautiful environment.
The place is located at 15 min by foot from the train station, uphill. If you don't like to walk, need a tuk tuk.
