My stay at Forest Cyniciam Homestay could not have been better. My hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly. My room was spacious and very clean. I have had some very good meals while in Sri Lanka but dinner at the homestay topped them all. I would return just to have the Brinjal Moju again. They also arranged tuk tuks to go to Horton Plains and back. I highly recommend Forest Cyniciam. It is also very convenient for Pekoe Trail hikers or anyone visiting Horton Plains National Park plus the Ohiya area itself is incredibly beautiful.
Nothing-everything was perfect

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this mountain homestay. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. The whole place had such a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel at home straight away.
The owners are a truly lovely couple who go above and beyond to make your stay as special as possible. They kindly helped us arrange transport to Horton Plains and even prepared a delicious takeaway breakfast for us so we could leave early.
We asked for both breakfast and dinner to be provided each night, and every single meal was outstanding. The food was homemade, full of flavour, always fresh, and clearly prepared with love. Portions were very generous, and everything was served with a warm smile.
We absolutely loved our time here and would recommend this homestay to anyone considering it. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. A truly memorable stay
Showers- although warm, there was no pressure in the shower.

The whole family is super friendly! They drove us to horton plains early in the morning (with a to-go breakfast).
The food was delicious and super generous!
The room was clean and comfortable with a mosquito net.
The garden is beautiful with many flowers and benches so relax and enjoy the view.
Nothing. The only thing is an improvement, to have a mosquito net, however this did not affected our stay.

Exceptional family! Great homestay, so so kind, so helpful and skillful (fixed my leech sock in 5min top!).
Food was copious and delicious!
Very close to Horton Plains national park, great view at sunrise in the garden, the host loves plants and flowers, and we could discuss about the Nelus mass blooming.
It was great. We will come back there if we come back to Sri Lanka!
Ps: night was great: very quiet place, and temperature was also perfect to sleep! Not cold, not hot, just nicely fresh!

A beautiful, peaceful oasis. Very homey. Loved the family vibe.
The only thing to note was that a small bathroom window was open at night and some mosquitos got in. Very trivial, but worth noting for any future guests here.

This is my second stay at this place. I visited two years ago with my friends, and this time I returned with my family. Whenever I'm in Ohiya/Horton Plains, this is my go-to place for accommodation. The food is excellent, and the hospitality is outstanding.

Great place! The staff was so kind, they served a fantastic dinner and breakfast. Cozy room. They helped with transport, clothes washing and a recommendation for a hike to a viewpoint and up the mount peak that was great!
All was very good!

Mahinda and Muthu really made our stay in Ohyia/Hortons special. you will find everything you need in this guest house: clean and spacious rooms, amazing (and plenty of) food, great hospitality, hiking and traveling advice, support with transport to the national park and good conversations.

We left another accommodation the day before because it was so damp. When we arrived at Cyniciam Homestay it was like a dream. The beds were big and comfortable and we were given extra cosy blankets. The family sent on our bag for us the next day which we sent on because we’re doing the Pekoe Trail. They were so welcoming and kind and the food was absolutely phenomenal. It was the best food we have eaten in our whole trip, seriously delicious and lots of it. I genuinely think they could run cooking lessons here! We would have stayed here for days longer if we weren’t doing the hike but this is a perfect place to stay for Pekoe trail hikers. Showers are warm, the family speak very good English, they dried our boots out on a heater after a wet section of the hike. Perfection!

They're the best hosts we've ever seen. Clean rooms, good beds and delicious food (dinner & breakfast). A hidden gem you must visit when you want to hike in Horton Plains.
We definitely recommend this place and will sure come back when we visit Sri Lanka again. Many thanks, Philippe& Freya

Lovely room. Helpful family. Wondeful breakfast and home cooked evening meal...would recommend that you ask for this! Host helped us out with providing a 'hot spot' for the internet.
No hot shower and be prepared for no wifi.

What can I say about our wonderful hosts… we have never received such incredibly kind hospitality, it was a delight.
The accommodation although basic was clean and in a beautiful location with great views. Breakfast and dinner was exceptional not only in quality but in quantity too.
You definitely won't leave there hungry. And always with a smile! Thank you!
The pillows are very hard!

The hospitality here was outstanding! We received such a warm welcome and the meals they provided were some of the best of the trip. We had a very filling home cooked dinner and breakfast, giving us the option to try several new Sri Lankan dishes. The whole place is lovely and you notice how much care and effort has been put in to make this a great stay. The rooms a very spacious, clean and comfortable. Can't recommend this place enough as the value for money is amazing

This place is so good, I'm gonna write 2 reviews!
The food is excellent, the family is beyond caring.
The kids are real sweethearts and very helpful.
I went to horton plains, with their tuktuk driver of choice, he walked all the way to the top of kirigalpotta with me, and did the whole world's end roundtrip, we had a blast. Come to this place and book ashan (tuktuk), can't go wrong!

This was a lovely stay. We stayed for 2 nights. The food was genuinely some of the best we ate in sri lanka. The hosts were always very kind and helpful. We could not have asked for more. The room was fine. Only criticism was that bathroom was basic but this was compensated fr by other things. There are good walks from the housee, including gewtting the train to Idalgashinna or Hapatule and walking back along the Pekoe trail. Outstanding hike. The village is not touristy. We met the lovely villagers, were invted into their festivals. Perfect. True avoidance of the tourist trials!
