Staying in the Boat at Jungle Beach Ahungalla was a truly unique and memorable experience. The room is beautifully designed around a real boat theme, which gives it a rustic yet creative atmosphere that perfectly matches the surrounding jungle and beach environment.
The space is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged, with natural materials that blend nicely with the tropical setting. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up surrounded by greenery made the stay feel peaceful and refreshing.
The location is also fantastic— on the beach, where you can enjoy stunning sunsets and a quiet stretch of coastline. The owner Barbara was very friendly and welcoming, always ready to help.
The service at the beach bar wasn’t great and some of the crew need more manners and training.

Good beach property, one can enjoy food and drinks at the beach, spacious rooms and as per one staff they have a ship shaped room a new concept in Sri Lanka, property gives a jungle feel as the name suggests and the owner was kind enough to let us extend our stay, very close to turtle hatchery, one can walk
Staff is difficult to locate, being from a hospitality background, they surely need more training, a bit of more smile on a few of them shall make the guests happy and some system to order is needed, and some security definitely is needed

Good breakfast! Interesting mistique feel to the place in the shades of the rooots! Nice beach!
There is a difference between the main photos used as advertising, and the reality of the place. We were family of 5, with 3 kids. The cabana and the room were not close to one another, and the fact this room is above the kitchen is nowhere mentioned. Still was fine for a night!

Staff were hanging around the back of my tent. Constantly hearing their conversations. They are sitting directly outside of my bathroom which is somewhat an open one at the top part.

Location Straight on the beach, delicious breakfast, with fresh squeezed juices and fruits. Nice bar and dinner place. Very nice Yoga Trainer in the Hotel must to try!
wifi was not working, keep in mind that it's in jungle so full of mosquitos and bugs. We have got bitten by sandflies so it's quite a problem.

They do not have local female staff, only male (who are super nice), but do hire female locals.
They need more freezers for the booze.

Relaxing beachfront jungle setting in quiet area of Ahungalla.
Rooms were fairly spartan with little decoration and would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facility.

The overall atmosphere at this place was amazing. This is a home outside home. Massages were perfect, evening drinks and dinners on the beach, the local dog always guarding our doorstep during the night and many more wonderful memories of our stay. Barbara and all the staff were so helpful, welcoming and kind. You go to sleep with the sound of the waves and when you close your eyes you are looking forward for their wonderful breakfast :) We will definitely visit again next time we come to Sri Lanka.

Very beautiful cabins in a jungle at a big quiet beach. A beautiful calm romantic place. Very friendly personal, amazing good breakfast and in general good food. Top location.
When there are that much musquitos, the bed needs a better musquitonet. One that is as big as the bed. Now it was centered in the middle with a ring and it needed replacement. There were holes in it. I sewd one myself and the ring came down. If the bed was made up by the staff, you needed half an hour to kill at least 8 musquitos inside the net.
The price was a bit high in comparison to other places we have been.

The location at the beach is really nice. The food was delicious and the interior of the cabins was pretty.
It rained into the cabin, everything inside the cabin was damp, even the bed sheets. It wasn’t very cosy.
There was no reception so we never knew, who we could ask for advice.
