I booked a one-night room for two people through Booking.com more than two weeks in advance, requesting a 3:00 AM check-in and two single beds. The property accepted all my requests through Booking.com messages, and I provided my card details.
When I arrived at 3:00 AM in the rain, the receptionist first said check-in was only after 12 PM. After I showed him the confirmed messages, he claimed the residence was full and that my reservation did not appear in their system. I was left waiting and unsure what to do until he eventually helped me contact nearby hotels, where I found another room and paid again.
Before leaving, I asked if I would be refunded. He said no payment had been taken, but then he was able to tell me exactly which card I had used, which suggests my booking did appear in the system, contradicting his earlier statement.
The next day, I received an email from Booking.com stating that the property had cancelled my reservation. I believe the booking was disregarded because I paid a discounted Genius rate of $30, and the room was likely given to guests willing to pay a higher price on the spot.

Proximity to the city centre and well-situated in Hamra. Good AC, balcony!
Infrastructure needs sprucing up inside the rooms and bathrooms. Bathroom sink tap had some sort of a residue or scratching on it that made for a weird sensation when touching it - felt icky. Could not get the shower to operate the first night - was afraid of breaking the tap and did not tug at it too firmly. There was no towel either.
WiFi was weak/non-existent. Another issue being that the hotel directed me to a Jordanian number via the Booking.com chat for support on landmark (it’s inside a lane) however they did not bother to respond on WhatsApp or via phone when called that, so much so, I was going to escalate this to the Booking dot costumer service to see if this booking should be cancelled in view of the non-response. Thankfully, the stay passed without issues.
