Oh God absolutely nothing ....
The old guy at the reception has the weirdest superiority complex - ? expect to be yelled at, by someone who gets overwhelmed if he has 3 customers patiently waiting in line for check-in/breakfast or anything for that matter. When that dude doesn't have shift, there's another younger one who will relentlessly hit on you and be absolutely inappropriate instead of doing his job and letting you move along with your life. I'm not wallflower, it's just ANNOYING. The bedsheets are slept in. NOT changed. Dirty, brown... Showers are moldy, there's no water really coming out of any faucets, the AC in the girls' dorm doesn't work, only a tired fan that definitely doesn't manage. Window cannot be opened because at night there are 10000 mosquitos outside at night. It's the place of absolute horrors. You say it's only 4$/night, you get what you pay for? I've stayed in HUNDREDS of hostels around the world and for even 2-3$ you get at least clean bedsheets that no person wearing makeup has previously slept in. Oh and don't expect any replies to your messages if you need anything- not here and not on WhatsApp, nowhere.

The staff were really friendly and helpful! We arrived early as our night bus arrived a few hours early than expected! The man working let us sleep in a dorm as it was very early morning! Even though we weren’t supposed to check in until 12 and we arrived at 5am! Very accommodating

They asked for money even though I paid online, was rude and didn't listen to us.

It was a quiet location. The people staying there was also quiet. Relatively clean.
I didn't like the way I was talked to buy the guy in charge there when I asked about the towel. When I talked to the owner, he said there's a fee of 10K Kips. I would have paid but not given the choice and a scolding attitude. I didn't like the ants. There were ants everywhere. The second and last night I was there, I was bitten so many times, probably ants and mosquitos. I didn't sleep much. Zero kitchen use. Nasty treatment. Others had the same experience experience.

The room was small but good. Clean, AC and hot water. Good location too
They asked us to pay more then mentioned in the booking. The Light in the bathroom didn't work properly. After we came back from dinner the Guy at the reception said he accidentally gave us the wrong key (the one from the room next door) and we should change it. We used it already and it worked - turned out that the same key workes for both doors. We only stayed one night so we just stayed anyways. But we can not recommend it.

Amazing Stay at Lucky Backpacker’s – Highly Recommended! I had a fantastic experience staying at Lucky Backpacker’s in Vientiane! The location is perfect—right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of the night market, temples, and plenty of great restaurants and cafés. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with directions, recommendations, or arranging transportation. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering great value for the price. The common area was a great place to meet other travelers and relax after a day of exploring. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, and the Wi-Fi worked well throughout the property. If you're looking for an affordable and comfortable place to stay with a warm and social atmosphere, Lucky Backpacker’s is an excellent choice. I’d definitely stay here again! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The staff were really friendly and the location was amazing.
The place was dirty, both the room and the bathroom. The towels we were given stank of damp. On the first night, we came in from dinner and got into bed. Not only were there run off the mill stains on the bed sheets, but there was a raised white stain on the sheets. I have my suspicions it was bodily fluids. Absolutely disgusting. The staff changed the bedding (but didn't have clean pillow cases to give us) when I asked, which was good, but I can't recommend this accommodation due to the uncleanliness. You also had to pay for water refills at the hostel, which I've never had to do before. Go to any other hostel on the bay.

Scratching for good points here,.. we left the review for a few awhile, to see how other places compare in Laos. This was the worst place over our 3mths on the road so far. Good location, near to restaurants and markets
This place needs a major deep clean! It's dirty and needs some love. The aircon and fans are noisy, struggling with the build up of grime and dust on and through them. To add our Aircon unit was dripping onto a piece of corrugate outside the window. Couldn't sleep at all. - wifi didn't work 2.5 outta 3 days -blood on duvet sheets -sink in room 90% blocked, and hair build up in shower drain -sinks in hallway leaking causing ponding water to walk by -receptionist works to a different curency than the internet. (Also had to chase up for change, two days later) ended up ripping us off about 100k/kip -tv provided with no way to turn it on -booked a room with a double bed, got a room with two singles .
