Pleasant
The location is central. The room is spacious. The view from the room is great. There are big windows in the corner room and you can watch sunrise and hot air balloons.
The hotel tended to be occupied by Korean group tourists.
The check-in was very unpleasant. I chose to pay in USD cash (otherwise they would charge me 3% fee) and they asked every note to be brand new and not with a single stain! They also insisted me to pay 0.02 USD (due to exchange rate) in cash and I didn't have coins. In the end they charged me in kip in a very unreasonable rate.
The hotel seemed to be quite outdated and lack of maintenance. The elevator was very dirty and seemed never been cleaned. We found the table in the room with sticky stains after checked in, though they cleaned it immediately after we reported it. The bedside lamp malfunctioned and we reported it 3 times to different staff. Finally one came to inspect but was unable to fix it. The staff's English was so bad that it was almost impossible to communicate.
The pool was almost always in the shade so it was too cold to swim in.
All in all the only thing I could recommend is the view, but with the money spent, I think there could be better accommodations.

Very Good
The room we had was very spacious and nicely decorated. The air-conditioning seemed to stay on when you left the room, so no return to hot room.
The shower was cold.
The pool area could do with some sun beds.

Very Good
The hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of Vang Vieng making it possible to walk to all local locations. The front desk staff is outstandingly friendly and helpful, seeing to all your needs. The rooms are very large and clean. The bed is on the hard side but the pillows are very soft. Linen is clean and soft. AC works perfectly. The bathroom is large. The shower gets plenty of hot water but water pressure is mediocre but acceptable. The flat screen TV is tiny but the WiFi is ripping fast.. The breakfast buffet which is included with the daily room rate is nice but they cannot keep up with the Chinese tours that consume everything as soon as the doors open. Thank God the staff looked after us personally since we were the only people in the entire hotel who respected them enough to leave a tip. We can recommend this hotel as a consideration for staying in Vang Vieng.
The room soundproofing is non existent and you hear all doors slam and loudmouth tourists all night. The 6th floor rooftop patio was headquarters for a backpacking all night party that pissed off the entire 6th floor. We all ripped the front desk the next morning and the hotel put a quick end to that every night afterwards

Disappointing
Room was okay
Free bikes
- extremely thin walls, could hear everything from my neighbors and the people in the hallway
- could not find the booking at first
- charged 5% for me using my Amex credit card, booking.com did not mention it
- at first did not want to lock my luggage away, but leave it in the breakfast room instead (accessible by anyone)

Reception that doesn’t smile when you arrive and not speaking any English. We asked if they had a baby cot for a our 3 year old (since it’s a 4 star hotel) and they offered to put a blanket on the floor for our son to sleep on the floor. We were asking for a mattress to put for him at least and they were insisting that we have to pay. So they charged us for a floor mattress. The cleaning is done just with broom and a cloth after, so of course there were hair from previous guests. The pool is in the parking, so it’s really not inviting as there are constantly people, drivers come and go. Under our window they put some tables so groups of people would hang out right next to our room disturbing our rest time. The area is very dirty as it’s the entire city.

Disappointing
Everything is fine but the staff.
We were very excited to try the tubing activity, so we asked our hotel in advance to provide information and help us book the tour. However, the staff member we chatted with assured us it wasn’t a problem, saying there were plenty of operators and they could arrange for one to pick us up when we arrived. This gave us confidence, so we didn’t make any prior arrangements.
On the day of our arrival, we rushed to check in at the hotel and immediately asked if they could call an operator, as we were eager to drop our bags and start the activity. To our disappointment, they told us everything was fully booked, and no operators were available. This completely disrupted our short stay in Vang Vieng, forcing us to reschedule for the next day and sacrifice some of the other activities we had planned.
When we finally went tubing the next day, we had agreed with the provider that they would drop us back at the hotel after the activity. However, the driver left us at the tubing endpoint and insisted we walk back on our own. While the distance wasn’t too far, it was frustrating since it wasn’t part of the agreement.
We returned to the hotel to complain, as this miscommunication had already caused enough inconvenience. After a lengthy back-and-forth investigation between the hotel and the service provider, they decided to refund us only 50,000 LAK out of the total cost of over 1 million LAK. If you’re wondering, yes, it’s just 50,000 LAK!
One piece of advice: avoid relying on the hotel to book or hire transportation for you. Instead, you can easily walk out to the parking area and find a driver yourself—it’ll cost you 50% less!
