Bed were comfortable and we had gekko staying in a eco pods with us.
It wasnt quite clean, also eco pods are really far away from hotel and pools which is not mentioned in the room information. Staff wasnt quite welcoming and did not tell us any information about hotel / breakfast etc. Breakfast wasnt good, not much options and not well plated. Most of the cold food like cold cuts and cheese was there in the heat, without being stored as cold.

Wonderful
They updatedour rooms to the maine building, which was great.
We reserved two rooms, it was like a bangalow a bit far away from the maine reception. Both rooms had an unpleasant.
We reported to the reception, they were glad to helped us.
Thank you!

we stayed in tinny villa but full of nice wooden smell which i love it!. there are so many monkeys in morning, kids could enjoy we took them. swimming pool is spacious and clean enough with beautiful infinity view.
property is too huge and tired to walk although they have free cart service but good to walk around if you are not lazy

The hotel has a great location up on a very green hill. There is an interesting access to the beach and the beach pool.
The hotel needs major renovation and better maintenance. It is massive and once upon a time has been a great place to stay. But now, everything gets old and often stinks.

Beautiful and quiet, good noodle soup, its own secluded beach
I was not comfortable with the monkeys, however docile they appeared. I avoided walking around certain areas of the compound

The staff is very friendly, and the room is clean and tidy. This is my second time here, and everything is once again at the highest level! There are monkeys on the property — you need to be cautious, but they add a special vibe.
The included breakfasts are great: a wide variety of dishes and everything is delicious.
The beach is a separate love: clean, almost deserted. The perfect place for recharging and relaxing! ??

Maxi Pod was very comfortable as were the beds. Set away from the rest of the hotel complex. 5 min walk to the pool and beach. Although I didn’t spend much time at the pool it looked pleasant. Bar is up a set of steps and after stand for 5 minutes waiting to be served I gave up. Walk way along the beach to a beautiful white sandy beach. Breakfast served at the main hotel area, lucky I had a car!
Staff at pool, isolated area for Pod location.

The beach is still very nice and natural.
We've stayed at Independence many times over the years and this is the worst condition I have ever seen it in; the beachfront facilities were mostly broken (tables and chairs), the walkway between the pool and the beach was at places dangerous with railings fallen into the sea and broken lights, the pool was dirty with many missing tiles, the food was frankly AWFUL. I have never sent a dish back in my life, anywhere. I sent back a carbonara that was swimming in raw egg yolk and had to explain to the staff that it was unsafe to eat.

The pool has a stunning view of the gulf and is very well maintained. The property's location is amazing with lush greeneries meeting with the aqua blue waves of the sea. I love the tranquility of our pod village and the serenity of the property.
It would be great if the aircon at pod 742 be checked as it is noisy.

The pod room755 was really good even though small, but had a few holes in it. So I took tissues and closed all the holes in the wall. Plus the spoon for stirring tea and coffee was not washed from previous guest's stay. Plus the kettle was also dirty, had to clean kettle and spoon to use it.
What went good:
The staff at the reception at night on 13th April checked me in so fast and the buggy people were always there whenever I called to pick me up. Full of animals, full of nature beautiful place to stay and watch sunset. Breakfast was ok - had Western, Khmer and Chinese cuisine. Tea was awesome. I was literally craving some quality black tea without sugar and I got it here whether for breakfast or at room. In the middle of nature, good to walk around hearing some meditation music. Pool was awesome, couldn't use it as it was raining at night and had to leave early in the morning. You can watch sunset and take a dip in the pool or the ocean.
If you are in Sihanoukville, this is definitely a place to stay as it is safe for solo travellers and there is a lot to experience in the hotel itself.
Pod Room wall being wooden, had a few small holes in it, Kettle and spoon were dirty from previous stay, not washed. Also something stung on my right hip at after midnight - not sure what insect it was. But was paining throughout the next day. Plus the TV was not working. Tried to switch it on, never switched on.
I would still recommend the pod experience as it is right in the middle of nature, you can hear the sound of the woods and has a calming experience, good for mediation and breathwork sort of thing. Book at least two nights if you want to experience the nature surrounding the property completely.

Very Good
The facility is stunning but visibly outdated and in need of some maintenance in the pool, but otherwise fantastic. We stayed in the pods, which were super quiet and really beautiful - it was very charming with a large family of monkeys living nearby. The pods are farther away from the main facilities, however a simple call and the staff would come pick us up within 5 minutes to go where we needed on the resort.
The pool and beach views were unbeatable, the beach itself was the best part of our stay and was super quiet, with soft white sand and warm waters. The breakfast buffet added great value for the cost that we paid, and the buffet itself was tasty.
The resort was great and we stayed here for 2 nights before going to Koh Rong. The area itself is not one we can recommend unfortunately. Sihanoukville is a very strange place that we felt lucky to get through safely in hindsight. If we had of done this differently - we would have gone straight to the island and skipped this area. This resort is almost on its own and very isolated on a coast line that is almost entirely full of abandoned commercial projects, giving the area an eerie feeling. Food at the resort and in the area was also limited, so this was a struggle and we ended up using grab to get food delivered. For that reason, it was more expensive to be here.
Traveller to traveller, if you can bypass this location - do so, but if you are to stay here, this hotel is a safe place and beautiful. It’s a great place if you’re just looking to stay within the resort.

The king pod we stayed in was really good! Monkeys everywhere! A great experience. The staff were all really attentive and lovely.
Sadly what let this place down for us was the sea side pool - it is tired (run down), tiles are missing, the pool by the hotel is green in places and could do with more cleaning / chemicals. Only one restaurant was open.
